Calender / Alarm notification not working

For some reason the notification sound / display for a set alarm or for a set appointment does not work on my telephone. I can set an alarm or a notification for an appointment but nothing happens when the time passes (all settings and sounds have been checked). I can't seem to figure out why.

I have had this problem before and it resolved by itself, but now it's back. It kinda seems like it is combined with heavy battery use.

When i had this problem before my battery only lasted about a day. After the problem resolved itself the battery lasted 2/3 days. Now the problem is back and also my battery lasts 1 day.

I installed Handy Taskman to check if i had any open programs, but there is nothing opened.

Is there anyone else who has this problem!?

Make sure the phone is not using the silent profile or the ringer / speaekers are not turned off.

I can't see how this can in any way be related to the battery life; it sounds like something else is causing that... as with someone else a couple of days ago, you don't have GPS constantly running, or WLAN searching going on every minute do you? (remember the GPS gets fired up when using Google Maps, Navigator OR if GPS tagging is turned on when taking a photo)

If GPS tagging is on for photos will the GPS turn off when not running the Camera app?
Yes it will turn off, but everytime you open the camera app. it will start up again.
