While Rafe, Steve and myself were named in the show, we couldn't have managed it without all our other contributors and readers throughout the year. This one really is for you all.

Mainly because AAS sources its own information, and waits until things are verified before posting them up.

Absolutely. I was just going to say the same thing. To be named as winners over sites likes the Boy Genius Report, even though we stay away from hit-attracting leaks, is something of a validation of our 'keep it legal and official' policy 8-)

Yes, but on the other hand, this very sterile approach also lends to the site appearing to be too close to the source(in Nokia's back pocket) with many articles. As a result, aas often times comes across as a p.r. site, due to lack of constructive critical thinking(toward Nokia), and strictly playing by the establishment's rules, imo.
Btw, congrats on the award.

fully and wholly deserved.
you're the blog that made me start blogging and now i work for Nokia.
i'm disappointed i can't be the voice i once was due to NDA's, but i just want to say that i read the site every day and share it with my colleagues quite often.
can't wait to hang out at the Symbian Show!

Nice work lads. Echoing some of the others here, AAS was the first phone blog that I came across all those years ago. Congratulations on the award!

"lack of constructive critical thinking" - ?? There are more constructive how tos and forward looking pieces on this site than on any other. And look closely and you'll see a lot of critical original commentary too.... we're not blinkered fan boys.

"As a result, aas often times comes as a p.r. site, due to lack of constructive critical thinking and strictly playing by the establishment's rules, imo."
Could you give an example of such a criticism-free article?
You say its happened often so there must be lots of such articles in the AAS archives, but I'm having trouble finding any.
Waiting for something to be confirmed isn't playing by the establishment's rules, it's sticking to a good principle of journalism. If you can't confirm something then you have no idea if it's true, which is pretty much the level that most tabloid gossip columnists operate at (hence their tendency to print lots of false information). Confirmation doesn't have to come from the story's subject, but it has to come from somewhere with a reliable track record.

I agree to a point but posting details of possible future phones (with good evidence) is not tabloid journalism.
"To be named as winners over sites likes the Boy Genius Report, even though we stay away from hit-attracting leaks, is something of a validation of our 'keep it legal and official' policy 8-)"
Official yes, not sure other site's breaking news are acting illegally...

Flash comparisions, the best camera phone comparisions, detailed reviews of the latest (final model with production firmware!) phones, how to do so such and such, reviews of third party software, what exactly is missing?
