Nokia Email hits new beta

If you've been following the saga of Nokia's new next-gen email system, note that there's a whole new shiny beta of Nokia Email available, writes the Beta Labs team. There's more localisation, wider compatibility and plenty of minor bug fixes and detailed improvements. There still seem to be some issues regarding Google services though - indeed, the very Email home page doesn't render at all in Chrome, which didn't bode well for me....

Just trying the email app. First impressions - why doesn't it integrate with the existing mailbox? And no way to mark all as read. Stupid...

Just downloaded the new Nokia Email ... at first cut, it configures the account I already had set up in its single email ID avatar. Unable to create any other accounts thereafter ... server times out !!

The second issue is that whenever I try to access the addressbook for an email ID while composing email, I get a Memory Full error ... how ??

Firstly, the Nokia email page seems to work just fine in Chrome.

I'm more concerned about how they claim it supports the N96 now, and yet the phone doesn't appear in their list. You can convince it to install, but then no indication at all as to how to use it - no new icon, no integration with Messaging... I think I shall have to take it off and try again.

Love it. Terrific feature. Wonder when they'll start supporting kml tracklogs? And will that merge with lifevine/sportstracker? Where are we going here?

the email application is nice, BUT sooner or later it wont be free.
I prefer the gmail app (j2me) for the moment.

I am getting the same error... It is driving me nutz. I have no applications open, and plenty of free memory.

any ideas?

Nokia email client is utterly slow, clumsy and badly coded software indeed. They should check System Seven email proggie. Memory full problems were so bad on my N82 that I had uninstall it. Total crap.

Lol.. as usual such warm, heart fealth welcome to Nokia's ernest efforts, and at Beta at that..

XC8, curious, why do you think it will become a pay service? I can understand that Maps and Files are pay services as some competing ones are too (although probably both are at the moment priced too high), but since there is a ton of free email services, I would imagine this one would remain free too.

In continuation to this message posted by me earlier, I just tried again to log into the email.nokia.com site but I get the message "Internal Server Error". I guess Nokia should get more serious about messaging (Push Email) if it were to become a player in this league .. else sooner than later, customers will start moving towards other services like BB Connect (which unfortunately, is not available on the E71 since there are some differences of opinion between Nokia and RIM) ...

I installed it this morning and quickly decided it would replace the stock messenger for email. Much more intuitive and integrated than the stock Messenger and easier to read. Best of all, a unified sync for all the mailboxes! Less sure about the permanent reliance on Nokia's push service. Bummer that the usual shift key "mark" shortcuts didn't work, but most everything else was there, buried under the usual heap of Symbian submenus. If for any reason you're not getting push mail, be sure the mailboxes are configured to "go online" because it's easy to toggle them off by mistake. It asks if you want to go offline at quit, but won't ask if you want to go back online again at launch. See the HELP textlet, it explains how to add/remove and toggle mailboxes on/offline. Just one crash so far. Hope it stays free/cheap.

One pitty thing is that it is no more possible to create local maps for storing mails for future reference.

Nokia should give up, they won't beat Profimail. They should just pay the Profimail author for his IP and rebrand it. Probably cheaper than this project given how long it's been going on.

I have installed this on Nokia N82 and Nokia N95 and it works nicely on both with my Gmail account.

I cannot however add a second mailbox for yahoo mail.

Is yahoo mail supported ?

Is the N96 supported or not? What is the point of using an N96 in the promo banner at the top of the sign up page (email.nokia.com) but not include it in the selection list for supported phones.
