Question E71 - Memory Full Messages

For the last couple of days I've been getting Memory Full messages which I can only get rid of if I power the phone down and back up again. The first time it happened was when I had both the GMail app and Google Maps loaded at the same time so I figured it was due to that. But lately I've gotten the message with nothing running in the background as far as I can see.

Is there an issue with the firmware and memory management? Could it be some app eating memory in the background that I cannot see running by holding the Home key? Is there a built in application that shows RAM usage (I've only seen the one that shows persistent storage)? Finally, is there some trick to dismissing these messages because it is a pain checking for running processes when you get another warning once you acknowledge the first one.

Thanks!

This is not a memory problem...its firmware bug.
you can run several applications at one time and you dont get a memory full message while sometimes you dont run anything and the phone moan "Memory Full".
