Walking through Samsung PC Studio

I'm sure some of you will be wondering about the software supplied by Samsung for the i8510 CD - it turns out it's a tweaked version of Nokia PC Suite. There are several things worth noting though, so I sat down to grab screenshots and give you a quick walkthrough of PC Studio - Samsung's way.

Read on in the full article.

Thumbs up kudos to samsung!

i love the pc studio. This is just soo close to nokia's pc suite. I am so used to nokia pc suite for syncing and all that it just looks the same for a samsung device.
I was tempted by i8510 right from the word go. This just strengthens my decision.
Still torn between n 96, n 85 or innov8!
Well, lets see.

My i8510 came this morning to replace my Nokia N95-1 and I was over the moon when I found it uses the same style software - I had my contacts on the new phone in just a couple of minutes

First impressions of the phone are also excellent!

Steve do you own a i8510 INNOV8 in your personal capacity or is it a test phone...?

When can we expect a full in-depth review of the INNOV8,when the newer firmware comes out?

And lastly when will they be a side-by-side comparison between the INNOV8 & the N96...

pc suite

With symbian becoming open source. What about making PC suite open source? So people can port it to their favorite operating system?

@hargs48:

"Steve do you own a i8510 INNOV8 in your personal capacity or is it a test phone...?"

Rafe and I both have long term loan i8510's from Samsung...

"When can we expect a full in-depth review of the INNOV8,when the newer firmware comes out?"

Yes, there's little point until newer, fixed firmware, PC Suite and support mechanisms are in place. It wouldn't be fair otherwise - the device is clearly not 100% finished, at least in terms of its potential...

"And lastly when will they be a side-by-side comparison between the INNOV8 & the N96..."

Oh, yes. The N96 arrives chez Steve on Tuesday. Let the comparisons begin! 8-)

INNOV8 will miss market opportunity.

Currently only being produced with 3G for the European market it will be at least 6 months if ever before Samsung produces a North American 3G model at which point the INNOV8 will have lost much of its marketability. The good news is if eventually made in N.A. 3G configuration it will most likely be unlocked (no network provider will pick up this phone) and it will be cheap for what it is because it will be old. All of this is a shame because Samsung is making some really nice phones.
