Palm OS compatibility now so close we can smell it
StyleTap have now confirmed that their Palm OS emulation system is now in private beta for Symbian OS - I didn't get an invite into this stage, but by applying to be a beta tester, you might be lucky. After a short while, it will be opened up to all beta testers, etc. The significance of StyleTap is that there are still many people in the world who are hanging onto ancient Palm handhelds and Treos because they depend on one or more specific Palm OS-only apps - StyleTap will help them move fairly seamlessly onto S60 and Symbian.
Read on in the full article.

Yeh. I would also be interested in this if Steve with his Palm background could list all the killer apps from Palm...

Styletap
Hi,
Im currently BETA testing this app for Styletap. It's looking good.
For me at least, the 'killer palm' apps are:
Datebk 6
eReader (as I own lots of eReader eBooks)
Splashdata apps (particularly SplashMoney and SplashID).

Incidentally, those of you with Nokia internet tablets can run Palm OS applications through Garnet VM:
http://www.access-company.com/products/gvm/
It's free at the moment because it's still in Beta, presumably it will become a commercial product at some point.
It works with all the tablets, 770, N800 and N810.

Steve, can you explain this to me? Does this mean that GedStar Pro (the Palm family tree/genealogy software) will work on my E90?
If so we'll have genealogy software for the symbian s60 third ed. for the first time... Hip Hip!

Palm os applications
I wonder to know if it will be possible the use of applications designed for touch screens on devices non touch like my N95. I have a lot of palm applications that I loved very much.

I think it will be possible, because they have already done StyleTap for non-touch Windows Mobile devices. Here's what the official FAQ says:
"StyleTap for Windows Mobile for Smartphone is for devices without a touch screen and a stylus, and provide a 5-way button for moving around the screen."

Killer apps? Don't know about killer, but of extreme use would be
Planetarium (so much better than anything available for S60)
Tidetool
GNUKeyring
Lots of games
But the real benefit would be having access to my old Palm notes, contacts, etc.

I think there are a lot of niche applications (i.e. a killer app to one person, but not all) that people would happily pay quite a premium for. Thats the value I imagine.

Does StyleTap now support synchronising with Outlook? Last time I looked at it (on Windows Mobile 5) it didn't.
While I agree that DateBook 6 would be a killer app on an N95 it won't be much use if it doesn't sync.

Absolutely; TealAuto supports PalmOS and Windows (Mobile and desktop), but not SymbianOS unless there's demand.
I'd probably buy StyleTap just for TealAuto...
