To see YouTube videos, log into:

http://m.youtube.com

As far as antivirus goes, I used to have Symantec Security (antivirus and firewall) for my 9300, but found that it was a little less than worthless. Unless you're in the habit of downloading and running questionable programs, you should be able to work fine without one.

thanks a lot about the antivirus, i had been told this before, but i needed someone to confirm that...

As far as youtube is concerned, i know it has a special link, but it needs adobe flash player which i can't find anywhere for Nokia S80

edit: Have you ever watched a video from youtube from your 9300?

I'm not normally a video-over-my-mobile-device kind of person since I have a desktop, a laptop and a Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, but to check the functionality of YouTube on the 9300 out, I went online and tried it.

I picked two videos at random and was able to watch them. One was a little stop-action animation called "I was told there'd be cake", the other was a promo by Jennifer Connelly about "Clean Water for Africa". Playback was what you would expect for .rmm or 3gp.

The browser invoked RealPlayer on the 9300 to play both videos, so the need for Flash has nothing to do with it.

The Web browser does have some flash capability though as it has "Shockwave Flash" listed among its plug-ins.

I bought my 9300b (US version) from Cingular (now the *NEW* AT&T!) in April 2006.

I have the BLACKBERRY/MEDIANET UNLIMITED PLAN which includes everything except "tethering" to an external computer.

If you don't have a high-volume data plan, you could have really high charges.

If you bought a World-version 9300 instead of the 9300b US version, about all you can do on it is talk. Data won't work hardly at all.

Now if you bought the 9300i (World-version w/WiFi) you would be able to connect through Wireless Access Points and save on your cellular data charges.

No, a World (UK/Europe/Asia) version 9300 cannot be converted to US version 9300b.

The 9300 versions are being phased out in the US...AT&T only sells refurbished ones when and if they have them and they no longer have any software updates to keep them current.

See my other message thread about AT&T with Blackberry Internet Service. I am expecting my 9300 to no longer be able to send/receive Blackberry Email after May 15th, 2008 when AT&T and RIM make a system upgrade.

I am currently looking for my next PDA/Smartphone. More than likely I will opt for the AT&T Tilt but I haven't made a decision yet.
