Question Which one? 280 for n95 or 570 for n95 8GB?

Hi all,

It's coming up to new contract time, had a N70 for 2 years and I've been reading around about the best smartphone to get. After decend camera, music and light internet use. Considering the N82, N81, N95 and N95 8GB. Most reviews point to the N95 8GB.

However I'm in a dilemma, cost verses the bester phone:

I can get the N95 (clearance) for total cost of 280 for 12months with cash back (with 600 mins and 500 txt)

Alternatively the N95 8GB for total cost of 570 for 12months (with 400 mins and 500 txt)

or N82 for total cost of 475 for 12months with cash back (with 1200 mins and 500 txt)

The number of minutes difference is no biggie as i rarely us over 400. And these tariffs are all with o2, but happy to move to any network.

So is the N95 8GB worth double the price of the N95? or is the N82 worth an extra 195. Currently thinking of going for the N95 clearance, saving the money and upgrade to the n95 8GB next year or something newer.

Anyone else in same situation? Any advice appreciated?

Thanks

Personally I'd go for the N95 and then you can put a 8 GB card in it . Gives you the advantage of being able to remove any personal or sensitive info from the phone which you cant do with the N95 8GB. Also bigger cards are on the way so why restrict yourself to 8GB of memory.

I have had both N95 versions and have been very happy with them. I prefer the looks of the 8GB and especially the bigger screen, but in every day usage they are very much the same. WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get.

Depends on your wallet. How much does the price difference mean to YOU? Remember to add the price of a 8GB card to the N95, to make the comparison realistic, and don't forget that the 8Gb is worth more next time you want to upgrade.

Simple - N95 Classic... unbrand... upgrade to v20... 8Gb microSD (or wait a teenie bit for 12Gb). Apart from the screen being a mere 0.2" smaller and not being in a black casing, there's little difference.

Thanks guys, appericated.

I guess the thing that concerns me about the n95 classic is the battery life. I thought the n95 8GB offered an improved battery life the reivew on this site suggested a 50% improvment? have people found this in practice.

You can also no get replacement housings for the N95 classic so you CAN have a black N95 and the memory card slot...

just a pity they don't ship the housings to my country :-(

The battery life is improved on the 8GB but I would question a 50% increase! In my experience, the classic lasts a working day as long as you turn off stuff like bluetooth and wifi when you aren't using it and keep things like GPS to a minimum. Personally I have a second battery if I expect to be away from a charger for longer than a day and am seriously considering one of these for walking/camping trips and weekends away: http://europe.nokia.com/A4487188

I had the N95 classic now have the N95 8GB - have to say I prefer the look of the N95 8GB although in terms of speed I havent noticed any difference as I had updated the fw on the classic to V20 and that seemed just as fast. The only reason I got the N95 8GB is because I had so many problems with the classic and O2 offered me a free replacement. So now I only have 6mths of my contract left and I have me a brand new phone. The bigger screen isn't that noticeable to me unless you put them side by side and they've kept the same screen font size which imo is a bit daft. I have had no problems in xferring files to the mass memory on the 8gb and to be honest, I was getting fed up of taking the memory card out of the classic each time I wanted to do a large xfer. Was sure that flap would fall off sooner or later. Also (and finally), I prefer not having the camera shutter as mine on the classic was forever coming open in my pocket and after a few weeks looked very tacky with wear & tear, oh and the silver paint came off my classic after a while. So there you go - a few thoughts for you, good luck!

I guess this is the N95 forum so not many will mention but I recently changed to N82 and have no regrets. It does really depend what you want but the suprising thing about it is how much smaller and lighter it feels.
The headphone socket is in a sensible place which was a big win for me and camera outperforms that of the N95 (alterations to image processing algorithms are very evident) as well as having a zenon flash.

The battery life for me is better than on my N95-1 evidently but also than what I acheived with my N95 8GB. I am not sure why but I had to charge my N95's every night but I can go 2 days with the N82 with the same usage.

People will look at it and be put of by the number keypad but believe me it is nicer to use than the N95, the huge downside is with the stupid placement of the multimedia key and the lack of the "edit" key, D-pad feels a bit crappy also!
