you could remove maps clicking 'c' on the icon... then I guess you'd need to find the previous version to reinstall

You'll first have to delete the "Cities" folder on your microSD card.
After installing maps 2.0, my phone memory went down by about 7mb. I didn't get the lost memory back after reinstalling the previous maps version.
Has anyone else encountered this? Might nayone have an idea how to get the 7mb back?

a question for those of you who are uninstalling Maps 2.0 beta - is it not as good as the current version? why do you want to remove it?

Did you use the traffic information? The beta blurb says that it has a known fault and downloads too much data, which is what put me off trying it just yet.

There's a slide control in the settings of Maps 2.0 for maximum memory usage, I haven't fiddled with it myself, but it may help.
Also, there are instructions for uninstalling 2.0 and a link for downloading the original version on the Nokia Beta Labs website.

You can set the traffic information bit so that it doesn't download anything at all unless you want it to.

Apart from the traffic data bug, is it any better than the previous version?

HERE is nokia beta labs official uninstall notes for maps 2.0 beta
If your phone has an older version of Maps application in its firmware, it is not possible to uninstall the Beta version. To go back to the old Maps version, you will have to first remove e:\cities folder from your memory card and then install the older version from maps.nokia.com.
so u cant uninstall, but can go back to using old version but you will lose the memory b/c the app will stay hidden in your storage
removing e:\cities folder just removes the stored data but not the APP

Righty-o. I wanted to upgrade to v2 beta but after reading this thread I think I'll wait until the official one is released.

I am using it and haven't noticed a drop in free memory. It's pretty good too.

Downloaded this last night and paid for 1 day of navigation today to get a feel for it.Have to say that I was pleasantly suprised on how far Nokia Maps has come in this version.Apart from the known traffic bug which I didn't use I didn't find any problems with it. On the route to work and back again it choose the correct route , the spoken commands were on time and accurate although I was losing part of the first word when I had my bluetooth headset on.The maps indicated where I was with no noticeable lag.
I don't think it's as good as Tomtom Navigator6 yet but Nokia Maps is getting better . This time next year if Nokia keeps up this level of development Nokia Maps should be a first class system.
