Turn your N95 into a wifi hotspot? - PLUS REVIEW

Check out Joikusoft for more info about an app called Joikuspot, basically the Finnish private company have the app that could be pretty damn useful for some N95's

Side issues are that it seems as the moment its only unencrypted networks that are available... anyway

Go see.

A shame it only supports http and https protocols right now. I guess I'll stick with BT connection with my laptop until they allow more protocols to work (such as voip). Will give it a try though.

But the feature I would really appreciate is if they create choice for both incoming and outgoing internet connection. So for example I would get to choose whether my internet connection on the phone I want to use is 3g, voip or bluetooth. Same with the AP the phone creates - I would like to have a choice between wifi and bluetooth AP.

Saw a comment but want to make sure i got it right as i am planning to buy N95 8GB US Version. I had Samsung 8525 and the screen broke since its touch screen most of the screen funtions do not work. So with N95 i can still connect to net using BT on N95 and BT on laptop...pls let me know.

Yes that's correct. Use PC suite 'Connect to the Internet' for the BT connection.
The program above allows you to connect to the internet through wifi rather than BT.

no, you connect by using the 3G on the N95 and the wifi connection between your N95 and laptop.

Of note too is that you may need to setup as Ad Hoc and the first page you see to signify success is the joikusoft page.

woah, took me a while to post that... but as mcb00f says, you can connect via BT but this method is a wifi connection between phone and laptop/touch etc

nah, not Shalke, Sheff Weds

FYI, it wont share your WLAN. Its a bit of a misnomer really saying 'turn it into a wifi hotspot' as basically although it uses wifi to connect, it only connects via 3.5G etc.

No, it wont share WLAN.....you'd use it on the road, where there isnt a wlan spot but you need to connect, so rather than using say a cable or IR you use the wifi on the 2 devices.

But really yeah, its just an app that allows you to use your 3G data connection over WLAN.
