Well now we can play infocom and hugo games, but the programmers forgot the most important one, yes, a SCUMM VM, so I can play monkey island on my 9210. That *IS* a killer app.

Same way as you play the infocom or hugo games, just get an engine to interpret the files. LucasArts use the SCUMM engine for which the port to BeOS is called the SCUMM VM, I hope there will be one for the 9210.

Oooh wow my 400th post

Infocom and Hugo are older than Lucas Arts offerings, so probably why you don't remember them as well. The Hugo engine is named after the 3 first games released on it (Hugo 1, 2, and 3) and has been used for a lot of open-source graphic adventures now. Infocom released loads of games, but there is only one I remember is Crime City (or something like that Mob City, or am I on something else?)

Anyway needless to say that LucasArts and Sierra dominaed the market in a big way.

Ever heard of Return to Zork? Zork is the text adventure that started it all, it was by Infocom.

There's a long list of Infocom games, such as anything with "Zork" in the name, Shogun, Arthur Quest for Excalibur, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Planetfall (precursor to later sierra's space quest), etc etc etc. Just search google for "infocom" and you'll get tons of results.
