PBAP profile Support for N95

Hi All,

First post so please be gentle...

N95 running v20
BMW Gen 3 ULF

The N95 is pretty much the best phone I've ever had, loads of positives about the phone, easy interface, mp3/video player, loads of apps, GPS, WiFi, email, TV out etc etc...

But a big downer for me is the BT car kit compatibility, since pbap (Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile) is not available in the symbian OS (well not nokia's anyway) then the phone will pair (and give basic call answer and end call options) but not sync all the contacts/address book or SMS messages.

Nokia have it spot on with the non-symbian handsets, (6230i etc), and for pbap not being available in their flagship handset is quite frankly very very pants indeed... (as you can tell I'm really not very happy about this lack of functionality, especially when S40 phones do).

I'm hoping that Nokia will add it to the next OS update, but since Nokia don't seem to be supporting the PBAP profile yet, is there any app available that gets round the lack of Bluetooth PBAP on the N95 and similar Symbian phones?

I've tried the Nokia_810_contacts_manager but is a bit hit and miss.

Can anyone help?

not that Ive heard of... as youve already tried 810 contact man, Im stuck for any more suggestions. That seems to have worked with my bm kit.
Oh, and welcome BTW 😉

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The 810 contact man sort of works for about 30 secs then the cars display goes blank and says something like "no phone book entries".

Did you turn on the remote sim as well?

Thanks

I believe so yeah,... the remote SIM setting being ON allowed the car kit to use the SIM card in the device. Im not sure tho, that it has any bearing on it as the contact data is in the phone memory not SIM, so I think the remote SIM just allows it to be accessed to call.

Hi Men,

I have just buy an Alpine KCE-300BT Bluetooth Adapter. I paired it with my Nokia N95 Make & receive call worked, but Access to phonebook ,via Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) doesn't work. Is anyone develop/create/find application to make it on S60 Series?

I'm French please be patient & nice with my English... 😊

Thanks a lot,
Neo.
