Route66 for n95 8gb

Hey all,

Having had issues with Navigon (see other thread lol - which is now finally resolved they agreed to refund yay!) I was wondering if anyone had an experience with Route66..

What I have read so far seems quite positive... one feature which would be nice that existing R66 could tell me is, does the software rotate when you flip the phone cover onto the "media" buttons?

Just how "bad" is the GUI? Can someone possibly post screenies? The ones on their websites might not be quite right....

Pros and cons of R66 greatly welcome here...

Funny you should ask, as Im hoping to do a detailed post on just why its so bad tonight/tomorrow.

I'll download sports tracker and show what route I take, as opposed to what one it wants me to take.

So if you can hang on, you can see what issues I have with it.

A lot of people say garmin is very good. Ive got it and not impressed, though it better than route66. I think Ive been spoilt by tomtom or some such, or maybe just picky.

personally I have only used Garmin & route 66 and must say garmin I think has prettier interface but over all I prefer route 66 .
I personally think most people are biased to the one they most use to , like me I have used route 66 for over 2 years so im probably biased towards that as its what im acustomed to

And do any of them have FREE traffic reporting, ie, without the need of a data transfer?

Nope, I avoided wayfinder because it uses data to download the maps as you go. You can plan a route and download online so its not data as you move, but any diversion and it shall have to download any new routes.

Wayfinder is different from navicore, unless something has happened I dont know about.

I have tried all the satnav solutions for symbian S60 that uses the internal GPS.

Exclusions are any that mean you have to download data for the route, i.e. any that dont allow you to download the maps beforehand.

I havent activated nokia maps for a decent test, so my verdict on that is still out, but Im not overly impressed with it. Ive heard the routing is just as bad as route66, but until I try it thats subjective I suppose.

In that link to a review, theres Garmin, route66, navicore, copilot, and navigon.

If anyone knows of any other satnav which fits the bill:

uses the internal GPS on symbian,

doesnt need data for general navigating,

Let me know, as I'll probably try it.

As it is, and I have said it more than once on here, Im waiting for tomtom, as is everyone else.

Wayfinder acquired Navicore in July 2007.

There's also Viewranger. Not exactly navigation software, but if you're being thorough...

I remember someone saying about that, but obviously wayfinder is being kept as is, just looked and its still data over the air type software.

Ive had viewranger for a while, and while its absoloutly brilliant, its definatly not for car use, or your usual satnav type. Though VR by far has the best support.
