Question any problems unbranding 3 N95?

Hi, I have previously used a v20 N95 and loved it compared with my current N95 which is on three and uses v12.

I wish to unbrand my N95 and upgrade the firmware to v20. The only question is whether I can use 3 x-series gold applications like skype, orb and slingplayer.

I've heard that unless I use the built in 3 versions the data use will not come out of the free 80GB entitlement I get with Xseries Gold subscription.

Also can I still access planet 3 from an unbranded N95?

all advice appreciated

Chris

yeah, i had no problem with any of my app and xseries, can't comment on rb as i don't have it.....
And i also don't have the 80gb allowance that you are talking about (is this for orb?)

And yes you can get planet 3 as long as you put in the right web adress for it...

You lose your skype, orb and slingplayer if you debrand. I think - but am not sure - you can download orb and slingplayer from their respectivs sites, but forget about Skype and forget about 3Mobile-TV.

Has anyone found an MSN alternative that will work on a debranded 3 handset?

I'm looking at getting an 8Gb but am a bit concerned about debranding on 3. Does the 3 internet block any other services?

Does anybody know what the current firmware is on the 8Gb 3 handsets?

My brother (xebo) had a 6680 with 3 and with my help he debranded it and upgraded. As a result, he lost his "planet 3" link on the standby screen. I don't know if this meant that other 3-specific apps couldn't be used, but I know that he was happy that it was finally gone

There is a very good program that supports many in services from lonelycatgames, it is called 'slick', so far its free for me, if you debrand, i an not sure about the network cost for this app, given that i haven't used 3 network since i debranded my 6630, which is ages ago; i use this app on my new n95 8gb over wifi,so its kind of free.

You said earlier that you are going to get 8gb, do you mean a mobile or a memory card?
