Japanese input on n95!!

Hey, I know that people (including myself) have asked for this before and FINALLY after searching for hours on end I found an application to enable Japanese text input support on the N95 (any S60v3 phone is supported, including ones with QWERTY keyboards)

The application is called M-FEP60

There is a link to english instructions however on my N95 (debranded, v20) the software version listed on the english page is different and does not work, so i would take the files from the Japanese instruction page and follow the english instructions.

It doesn't work in all applications (namely web browser which is quite annoying) but it does work in the Messaging application so you can write e-mails.

Hope that someone finds this useful, if not it will be useful when someone googles

there is an english instruction method (well the english isn't great i'll admit but it's understandable, on the left just click "english page" then select the M-FEP60 again , hopefully they'll update the page so the japanese versions and english ones read the same!

Just a thought, I might be wrong, but if you need Japanese input, wouldn't it be easier to change the product code to one of the Asian ones and reflash so you get native built-in support for the language?

who in their infinite wisdom leave the Japan market to japanese manufacturers like Sharp / Panasonic / NEC and Toshiba .. so there is NO support for japanese text entry on the N95 or most of the decent nokia smart phones.

There are a few Japanese made smart-phone which are superior to the N95 in one aspect or another. Their screen resolution for one is MUCH better.
Many of them feature DVB .. digital TV reception which will inevitably make it into world phones.
The Sharp 910 has been available for a few years now has a 5M camera WITH an optical zoom lens .. the quality is stunning.

Still if you want to roam the world you can always make do with the Sharp 920 ..

Anyhow enough moaning .. simply put Nokia (with the exception of the N73) are just not interested in competing in the Japanese market, which it has to be said is the most competitive tech market-place.

I have Nokia N73. When I try to install any of the files, I get the error message: "Certificate error. Contact the application supplier."

Please help. I've been trying to find a way for my Nokia to support Japanese input for too long...

As I've already written on other threads, Psiloc finally decided to do something about this... Now they offer Japanese input software for Nokias (Nokia N95 included). So visit their site and enjoy... I've just bought it and it's great.

I'm poor so I can't afford to splash out on something that doesn't have a kanji dictionary .. so please let us know if you can convert kana-kanji using this software. Thanks much!

Psiloc CrystalJapanese has a 10 day fully functional trial, whaddya gotta lose?
I'm in the process of installing it now, hopefully it'll work well!

will be in Japan tomorrow for 4 days. Last time I visited, Feb 08, softbank were in the late stages of releasing a N95 into the market. I will see what I can find out about it and update if anything is of interest. Cheers.

For those who don't mind paying 50 bucks, there's a great commercial input method called +J.

I didn't try M-FEP60 so I don't know how they compare, but +J works great and is easy to install.

My handheld is E63, Symbian S60.
It work well after few hours spent for searching in Internet, Install and try how to use. Finally, result:
(1) You need to install M-FEP60, M-FEP60 Setup and M-FEP60 Dictionary.
Download here: digilife.bz/eng/wiki/index.php?M-FEP60
* You may got notice "Certificate Error. Contact your supplier" -> Exit setup in your phone. Go to Menu>>Installations>>App.Manager>>Setting>>Softwar e Installtion, then choose All (instead of signed only)

*If you got "Certificate Expired". You just set your phone day & time to Jan 01st, 2000. Then everything will be OK.

(2) You need to install Japanese font (To display Japanese font)
What you need are:
* Download font: worldwideweb(www).ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=446288&d=1226205533. Extract ONLY file HeiseiGothS60.ttf to any folder.
* Micro SD Card reader (connected to your PC), then copy file HeiseiGothS60.ttf to E:>/resource/Fonts (SD Card). Copy this file 3 times then rename it as (nohindisnr60.ttf, nohindissb60.ttf, nohinditsb60.ttf).

If your phone is not E63, you may need to install Y-Browser or FExplorer to check your phone memory (Maybe C:>/RESOURCE/Fonts) what the font name there are, then just rename the files in your Card Memory (Fonts folder) as that).

Reboot your phone. Then, sure it will work.
