Reconditioned or brand new

Hi All

i got my replacement n95 this morning as it was lost last week.

my question is it may be a reconditioned one, is there away of telling?

It was in a smaller box with all the accessories.

Type *#92702689# on the display screen. This will show you the "Life Timer", which shows you how many hours and minutes worth of air time the phone's gotten.

Mine was at zero when I got it. Hope this helps.

It really depends on 2 things.

1. How old was your original N95 before it was returned for replacement? If it was faulty less than 30 days into your contract, you are entitled to brand new.

2. If you were more than 30 days into your contract, the network has the option of replacing it with a new or reconditioned handset. Therefore if they had reconditioned (mail order returns most likely) then they would probably send you that before they would sacrifice a brand new unit.

I would not rely too much on this figure, as it can be reset to zero after FW flashing, and the networks are supposed to format or re-flash alll returned handsets before re-issuing them.

Well then, there's a 50/50 chance you got a new one.
I don't think there's any fool proof way to tell if it was reconditioned.

Finally, if your replacement handset is working fine and has no cosmetic damage then that's as good as it gets, and the network/Nokia has honoured the terms of the warranty.

Indeed, if it's not damaged and works fine then there's no functional difference between a reconditioned and new handset, and if it's reconditioned that doesn't absolve them of the requirement that it's fit for purpose.

well it looks and feels just like a brand new one.

best of all its already been unbranded so it has saved me time and effort as i would have unbranded it.

because it has already been unbranded it should not affect my warranty.
