No, its different dimensions, someone actually measured them on here I think. Also, its likely to have different connectors.
Its the reason the 8GB version doesnt have a lens cover, due to the extra bulk of the battery.

Davyjones: Take into account all the things this phone does for you on a daily basis, if you're not happy with it, then simply switch back to an ordinary cell phone that can only make and receive phone calls and nothing else. I think a phone with 4 to 5 hours of straight talk time is wonderful. Fido is currently advertising 7 hours of talk time with some of their phones on their network. That's fantastic. Now when you turn around and say "my phone has GPS, 802.11 and a [almost] fully capable media device" people will be envious. Tell them, I can watch a full two hour movie but then I usually have to recharge my phone, they'll still be impressed.
Now of course, the phone is for your personal use and who would care for others opinions. You have a very powerful device at your disposal and all you care to take into account is that you have to recharge it every night, that seems like such a small price to pay to own such a great device.

Technically yes, the phone is the same dimensions.
However, as I said the lens cover has gone, so there is more room in the battery compartment. This is for a bigger battery.
The loss of a lens cover for a 5MP camera is IMO a large downer, but then nokia can still say that its the same size as the old one.

No, it won't fit - despite comments to the opposite from other forum members.

I agree!
The only advantage that the american version has is that it has a lil bit bigger screen and that it is in black
I dont care about the extra memory it has because i am quite content with 64mb ram and a 2 gig card.

The 64MB RAM, for running programs, is a nuisance. This is what causes 'out of memory' errors if you're using Web for a while and then open the camera, for instance, or else closes programs in the background. The 128MB RAM the 8GB has is, in my opinion, the best thing it has going for it.
The ~100MB free phone memory for file storage on the N95, which can largely be supplemented by a card for media etc. is fine. Having 8GB on-board will only be a disadvantage once 8GB microSDHC cards come out, since you can't swap cards, put them in card readers, etc.
It's beyond me why everyone thinks the N95 8GB looks better in black though - I much prefer the looks of the silver one.
