Download! for PC now available via Nokia Beta Labs

A beta version of the new Download! for PC is now available via the Nokia Beta Labs website. Download! for PC allows you to easily download pre-selected content and copy it to your phone adding either a new look (themes, ringtones and wallpaper) or new applications and games. The PC version offers a way to reduce costs and to speed up download times.

This is a really good idea, it totally sidesteps the problem of networks that still charge too much for data. Also, it's probably a lot easier to manage large numbers of content files on a PC client than a phone client.

--A number of operators, rather short sightedly, remove the Download! client in their custom firmware versions as they see it as competition to their own offerings. --

Yet another reason to only buy sim-free phones. :-)

3 have it on the 6120 but (I assume) as I am not on X-Series it fails to load the catalogue. This is great news. I will be installing this when I get home.

It is compatible on the 6120.

You have to install the "D! Beta" application on the phone as well as the Download! application on the pc.

Works on 3 Branded 6120s too.

Unhappy

Nice idea but it takes 240+ MB to run on my pc and another 1mb on my phone. That's just too much for the kind of functionality that it delivers! And it needs installation of .NET version 3 as well! Why???
