predictive text entry different?

So I've had my n95 for a few days now, and I just changed to a generic product code and v12 firmware. (from a T-Mobile V11)
however my predictive text is acting weird.
before if i wanted to change to the next word in the dictionary i would press down on the directional pad. since changing firmwares this now doesn't work, and i have to press the * key to change words.
the other option is that i have just gone and lost my mind, i'm not sure which yet.
anyone else noticed something similar to this?
Is there any option to change the entry method back to the previous one and I have just missed the option repetedly while checking?

Many Thanks

Talking

Don't worry, you're not losing it. It's always been the "*" key to scroll through alternatives on the generic firmware.

If the old method was in T-Mobile firmware, I think that it may be in a firmware update provided by T-Mobile. Generally, it's not headach to use '*' instead.

Just done the same with my T-Mobile N95, and i can't use the down button anymore. Found it a lot easier as i was coming from a K800i, looks liek i'll have to get used to it

I debranded today and to be honest cant say ive noticed :/ if its gone though thats a bonus the pressing down thing was a major annoyance for me especially when using predictive text in a multi-line situation.

Oh, I've always used the down button.. I had no idea that it wasn't the standard way (since I'm on T-Mobile firmware).
