Nokia Software Updater not finding phone?!
Hi I would appreciate any insight into the problem I'm having.
I recently had to re-install Nokia PC Suite as it continued to crash on me. After doing this I've tried to use Software Updater, however it keeps telling me that it cannot find the phone, or the phone may not be supported which it is.
I've tried doing all the basic fixes it tells me to do, and tried every one of my 4 USB ports, and still no joy.
This is strange as I can use all other applications in PC Suite fine through USB Connection. Oh and yes I have the phone in PC Suite mode.
Anyone else have this problem?

It should be seperate anyway... PC Suite doesn't actually come with NSU, it just provides a link to it, and if it's not already installed, it'll open the webpage where you can download it.

Their seems to be a bug in Nokia Software updater i find that it happens to me when i update to new version. Go into Nokia Pc suite, go to manage connections and make sure the USB cable is ticked, as it becomes unticked sometimes. If unticked tick it as this is the reason NSU sometimes cant find the phone

still no joy
I appreciate your ideas. I've tried re-installing NSU from Nokia website twice now, that didn't help.
I've also double checked the USB connection in "Manage Connections" and this still doesn't work.
Unfortunately I'm still at square one folks. Any suggestions would be very helpful

IF PC Suite is connecting fine .. when using NSU switch off ANY firewall and Virus Protection (temporarily of course!) try again.
Good Luck!

PC Suite and NSU are different programs, have you tried downloading and installing the latest version of NSU?
Also, I find that NSU does not work reliably on my PC when my Virus Scanner and Firewall programs are enabled (Norton Internet Security in my case). I disabled both programs when u sing NSU then re-enable them afterwards.

Thank you all very much for the tips!
Tried everything mentioned above, then I had to resort to using a mates computer to update software. Thanks to Ohoi for the suggestion.

This thread started two days ago, I would imagine that his computer has been switched off at some point during the two days.
In any case, you DON'T need to restart your computer after installing NSU...

You must uninstall the phone and restart and let windows reinstall the drivers when you connect again. It's to do with the different apps talking to each other and one not recognising the driver. If it's a really bad conflict you might have to uninstall and reinstall the software as well.
I would generally recommend a restart of the computer after each install as not doing so can be hit and miss when it comes to registering the required dlls, etc in the registry.

I did re-start computer after installing NSU Ronaldo. This thread has been dragging on now for a while so i'll put it to bed myself. Anyways it's prob easier to just use friends pc, who lives in same house rather than finding the defintive solution through constant questions. Thanks again though
