where did the file go?

I had a ordinary doc-file on my d-drive (card). Then I linked that file to a calendar item as an attachment. I opened the file while in calendar app and edited the file. When I was about to close it, I found that there was no way to save the changes (ctrl-s didn't work and there was no save-option in the menu). No worries, I closed it and when I re-opened the file (while still in the calendar app), the changes were there.

Then later I moved the file to my PC and found that the original doc-file was unchanged: nothing I had added was there! I opened the communicator calendar and the linked file: changes were still there. So the app had obviously created some kind of temporary file where the edited text was, and had not saved the changes on the original filename. Now my question is: where is this file located?

I tried to browse the phone directories, but was unable to figure out where it might be. I had to copy and paste the edited text (in the calendar app) to a new file in the Office app to be able to move it my PC. What could I have done differently?

I believe that the Word file was/is embedded into the calendar file you were using.

[looking back to happier days] I remember the days when you could embed anything into anything, back in ER5 [/looking back to happier days].

BUT IT DOES!!

I didn't even try it cause I it never occurred to me that it could sync, but it did! And the edited text appeared right there in the outlook appointment window. Why didn't I think of that :-?

I would still be curious to know where that text is stored, but perhaps it is embedded somewhere in the calendar file like Tankerx suggested. If so, it would not be clever to use that attachment feature too often, because it increases the size of the calendar file?
