Maps: Question about .lmx files

When you "send location", it sends a .lmx file, which presumably means a "landmark" file. Is this an industry standard, or confined to Nokia? For example, could the missus use it in her Tomtom-equipped E50? If I receive one, what do I do with it? Does it automagically just get saved to my landmarks list?

No idea whether TomTom supports the file format or not (probably not).
