Angry N95 Keeps Connecting to WLAN on its own!

WTF!

The last few days i have noticed my phone has been running down alot, and has felt warm when i pick it up.

I noticed on the screen today, a little square icon in the top right corner, looks like a wireless connection symbol.

So i selected wireless scanning from the main menu, bang comes up connected??

So for some reson my phone keeps connecting to my wireless lan all on its own, pile of shit!

Been through all the options and prgrames i have, nothing is set to auto connect, so now i have to keep turning the phone off.

Any ideas what this could be, its doing my head in!.

Question

Hi
Did you install Shozu or Mobile Gmaps (not Google Maps)?
Iīve installed them and I got the same problems as you.

So i uninstalled both but this didnīt help. I habe the impression not everything is uninstalled. Im am new to the Symbian world. Is it possible - as in Windows - that programs not unistall everything so they can left problems?

I think I have to reset my N95 and well do it in the next days.

From the wireless main menu on the main screenyou need to select "switch wlan scan off". It should then display "WLAN scanning off" on the main screen and this will stop it connecting to you home WLAN.

However, if it is still connecting, it sounds like you have a program installed that is forcing the connection. Have you installed anything that looks for a network connection?

Do you have Truphone installed? Also does that by default. You would then see a second icon besides the square one. Don't know what it is supposed to look alike, but it is a little bit earish

Regards,

Doesn't sound 'earish' to you

Thanks for the clarification

hmmm

Lots of things that use a connection, but all disabled, double checked, somthing must be being sneaky, well out of order.

No icons, just the wirless like 4 sqaure thing in the corner.

What apps have you got installed and are they on the memory card or the phone memory? You could take out the memory card if you use that to install apps and see if that makes a difference. Might help narrow down the culprit.

I've had exactly the same problem before. I've closed down all applications and set any connections to 'manual' but in some cases it still connects to WiFi. I've closed the connection manually and it just reconnects.

The only solution was to restart the phone. I've got TruPhone installed but this has been set up to connect 'on demand' i.e. I connect manually.

I've noticed the problem only seems to arise after you've been using a network app, like TruPhone. It doesn't seem to happen before and doesn't always happen every time I run TruPhone and then exit.

Bit of a mystery!
