hello,
Yes i have had experiance with the carphone warehouse in newton abbot and i wouldnt go there, with my N73 they had to send it away which was going to take 14days but if you sign up to nokia's "CLUB" they give you a listing of all the different service stations, and there is another one in newton abbot (sorry cant remember name or CLUB sign in's to get the name for you) but at this company they actually repair them there at this shop and should only be max like 3 days
Hope this helps

Cheers, I didn't realise there was a carphone warehouse nokia centre in Newton abbot. I'm planning on going to phonezone, because the carphone warehouse in plymouth say you have to have a piece of paper proving purchase of your phone.
Thanks for the reply

Hi. Mine is as yours. How did it end? Could you repair your phone? Is it working now?

How many people ..
PANIC when the phone disconnects during the upgrade process?
How long did you wait before disconnecting it?
I get the feeling that a lot of these brickings are self-inflicted.

Look, just becouse you were lucky, do not patronize other people.
I did de NSU upgrade by the book. Never touched the cable or the phone, set everything just as instructed, general profile, sim inserted, chargd batt with charger plugged - EVERYTHING!
It goes off by three quarters of the process, never comes on again, and then the NSU programa says it's lost contact to the phone, and instruct us to remove battery and put it on again. THE SOFT ITSELF SAYS THAT!
And then you have a black lit dead phone.
SO, if there's nothing you can add to solve the matter, please, do shut up and don't waste our time making us come all the way here just to see you calling us sissies.
TIA.

Phonezone couldn't do it in store because he only has USB flashing capability (same as using NSU basically)
Left it a few weeks and took it to my local nokia centre when I got home (uni student). They rang me today to say they are having to send it off, reckons there was more wrong with it than just a duff flash (Did have problems with the earpiece)
Fingers crossed should be sorted when I get back from hols

software update on n95??
Mine did exactly what yours did VetDuarte three quarters of the way through update, luckily enough i've not seen any side effects. I was warned about this problem by someone at work (i work for a phone company). i do like this phone but it does have a habit of what seems to be rebooting unexpectedly?? tried the firmware update hoping to fix problem but with no success. wonder if nokia know their update ain't working properly, for most people anyway.... BE WARNED, anyone else thinking of updating the firmware!!!
p.s
Ignore the Noob who said your doing it wrong. i know what 'im doing and you get same result as me....

Had the same. i think thats confusing message ! i ignored it and pressed retry 6-8
times at this point, and connect was restored, screen showed "Test mode",
process continued to the end with success.
for all who going to flash, DONT disconnect cable or remove battery, just retry.

Got phone Back
Got my phone back today after it had been sent away to Nokia. Interestingly it came back still debranded with generic Nokia firmware on. I expected them to install the orange firmware back or refuse to repair it !

I agree 100% with the bricking issue. I knew there was a problem with the pop port on my N80IE because while downloading themes, Psiloc etc I had many disconnections. So when I was ready to update the new firmware, I was extra carefull. I turned off all fans and bolted it to my desk so I didn't have any movement of the cable. Guess what, after downloading the entire 123gb, as soon as it started to install the phone went dead. Retrying didn't help as PC Suite couldn't find the phone. Now I can't even charge the phone. Dead, Dead. Only 1 month old.

Try a Hard Reset operation. Try this 3 or 4 times.
If the handset still does not boot up, you need to visit an NCC.

The chances of a Nokia Repair Engineer checking the Product Code on every handset that passes through his hands is about 100-1. Glad you were not the 1 unlucky person out of 100.
