And so it begins...

The convergence flagship that is the Nokia N95 is arriving.... Support pages for it went up today and two production N95 smartphones are at this moment crawling across the UK to Rafe and myself. Look out for an unboxing tomorrow and initial impressions, followed by multimedia, usability and navigation tests in the next few weeks.

Read on in the full article.

Waiting for a review

I have thousands of questions that will be answered in your future review for sure. Anyway:

USBmini cable: Is this cable the same we can find with any digital camera or any palm? Or does it have a special design?

Firmware: Is it possible to update firmware of a phone offered and targeted to Asia with a firmware targeted to the USA?

MailForExchange(1.5.0).SISX (Activesync): Does it support this software intended for E series?

it would be nice if someone could answer some of the many questions that have been posted in the N95 forum, that have gone unanswered.

The big one for me is does the active display show unread messages like on the e series phones, judging be all the screenshots around the web i would say not ! which is just plain annoying, if it can be done for the E series devices it can be done for the N95.

But like usual Nokia always have to leave something out

The reason for unanswered questions was either because:
1) we don't know because the prototypes were incomplete in some way
2) we don't know because the the question was so specialist that we didn't have time to install solution X and sync with system Y

Hopefully now that we have production units more queries can be answered though. Form an orderly queue 8-)

The most interesting questions, just on top of my head, are:

1) Is the purple hue in the pictures gone? Some sample shots in different lightning will be nice.

2) Is the camera recording smooth? I think I saw small hiccups on the the earlier sample recordings posted.

3) How is the menu speed? A video showing speed of navigation would be very welcome.

4) How much RAM is free after a reboot?
