It would make more sense and you might get some answers if you told the truth, if you used the nokia updater on an n80 IT WOULD NOT update the phone to the N80I, you must have used some third party flashing kit or something along those lines, so perhaps if you described exactly what software you used and what you did then people might be able to give you some answers.

all i did was downloaded the nokia updater software and updated my phone, i didnt use any third party software, according to nokia's website, when you download the latest version to your phone you get the n80IE version.

i tried reinstalling the updates so many times, re-pairing the headset, no luck, the headset works fine, i can make phone calls, but no ID names or time, msg, etc. shows on screen

Ooops, dont i look an idiot now

you have a full apology from me, looks like i need to take a look at the new updater software!!, But it might be more trouble than its worth, my phone seems ok at the mo so as they say "if it aint broke dont try and fix it!!"

hope you get it sorted

The HS-12W headset has a display/screen of its own:
http://europe.nokia.com/accessorieslink?s=HS-12W

In any case, the headset page (above) lists under "Compatibility" only 8800, 6288, 6280, 6233, 6151, 6131, 6085, 5300 and 5200. All S40 phones, and no S60 phones at all. If that info is to be trusted, it shouldn't even have worked with the N80 before the firmware update.
