N95 as a wifi hotspot?

Is there any chance at all that the N95 will be able to use the wifi capabilities to create a hotspot to connect with and share Internet connection to another wifi device, such as a Sony PSP?

In order to do that the phone would need to be configured as a router much like when you do it in Windows, you need to set up Internet Connection Sharing to enable the machine to share its internet connection. Im not certain but I can't envisage there being a Symbian version of ICS?

Well someone needs to get on it!

I didn't think about the need for it to act as a router... I was thinking of those wifi max usb dongles that plug into a computer to create a hotspot for PSPs and such that act as a router, without being an actual dedicated router.

Really though... I mean if it's just a matter of writing some software, do you think it would be possible that someone could accomplish such a feat? Would the hardware be available and 'open' enough for a programmer to make this happen?

yes you can!!

It is easy to use the N95 as a wifi hotspot...... indirectly.
Turn internet sharing on on your computer.
That way, the N95 acts as the modem and your computer acts as the wifi hotspot.
I had it working with my Apple Powerbook as the hotspot and a PC sharing my wifi connection. There we no compatability issues.
Try it!

That's all well and good but it does assume you *have* a computer. :P
