Faulty SD Cards

Hello everyone.

I have a 2GD mini SD card for my N80. I gto it from ebay as a "sandisk" one but belive it to be faulty. Now ive had it for months so cant give it back, but wanted to know if its possible to reflash or whatever to erradicate the problems with it?

Basically i lose all my pictures etc from it after a few weeks and have to reformat it.

Also anyone know how the 4GB mini sd card hacks mite be going? Any firmware etc that will enable the N80 to use these cards?

Cheers

Rich

No, the issue with the faulty (fake...) SD cards is not something correctable. It's because the hardware used to create them is substandard. I suspect the issues with them are down to voltage tolerance, PC's and other devices have a lot more juice available to them and can deal with them if nessicary. The N80 is a lot more sensitive how ever and won't work with these knock-offs.

As for the 4GB cards, the current experience with the is that they won't work with current firmwares. We think with different implementations of FAT they may sometime work. Nokia obviously has some experience of large disk use as the N91 is available with both 4 and 8 GB hard drives... for the time being we'll just have to wait tho.
