Getting! Yahoo! Go!

Antony Pranata usefully provides screenshots, details and the right download address for the new (beta) Yahoo! Go 2.0, a Java host for a selection of genuinely useful widgets (news, searching, etc.) Do note though that the 500k download has to be done in Services, not Web. We'll be knocking up a full review in the next week or so.

Read on in the full article.

Java

...

E61: "There are no plans to support Yahoo! Go 2.0 for your phone."

What can't they simply release the native version they aready have to all S60 models and get on with it...

Hmm, the beta is full already. Registered to be notified when a space is available, but imagine that will be awhile yet. Guess I'll just have to plug on with v1.

Eh? Full? I just entered the right URL in Services and grabbed the Java install file, as prompted. Worked fine for me at 8am this morning!

I got access to the beta this morning. i have been playing around for half an hour. It seems a lot less invasive than the first version ( and it is a java app, not symbian native). Flickr access is nice and the best feature seems to be that it can work like a RSS aggregator.

Any of you managed to get it working on E61? Or is it really not supported yet (screen resolution issue)?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I was really excited when I saw this and couldn't wait to install it on my N93 it didn't last long though. Version 1 that I had on my N73 was much better IMO this is only slightly better than useless. No push e-mail as in the first version, no Calendar sync, No access to my Yahoo Photo albums either. This offers me nothing the N93 doesn't already have and does better IMO. Also it appeared to want to stay permanently connected, the only feature that was quite good was the local weather which lets face it is hardly a killer app now is it. My advice if you have the original stick with it as IMO this new version sucks like a crate full of lemons.

All I want is Yahoo Messenger on my phone. Yes Yes I know there are other IM products, but I'm morally opposed to leasing software (AgileMessenger) and I don't like any the others. I just want a symbian native Yahoo Messenger that runs on my E61, I'd never use IM on my PC again!

Thanks guys - ok, you've persuaded me, I won't bother reviewing the new version - better things to do with life etc 8-)
