Phoenix Problems after succesful install

Hi Guys,

Spent close to 12 hours installing and re-installing phoenix. I am able to install phoenix using the crack and successfully copy the the cracked phoenix.exe file and dll into the folder.

When I load phoenix the nokia phoenix splash screen appears for a moment then I get a generic windows error! Have uninstalled all other nokia software and also run the reg entry cleaner. It looks like that phoenix installs ok just doesnt run

Im using windows xp and would love to update to N80ie. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Does your PC have a dual Core CPU or Windows XP Media Center Edition?

I don't trust Nokias regclean utility.

I ran it successfully - or so I thought, but there were still registry entries.
run regedit and do a search for 'nokia' and delete the entries found (backup ur registry first from the menu option)

Someone on this forum suggested creating a new partition using vmware - a little overkill imoh but if u decide to go down this route it will reduce any chance of conflicts.

Also I'm assuming you have the windows xp1 & xp2 service packs installed.

Worth rebooting after uninstalling software and registry cleaning too.

Let us know how u get on.

A clean windows installation will install Phoenix without any problems. I know some of you might argue it's too much hassle to create a dual boot just for that purpose, but it will in fact save a lot of time. I spent an entire day trying to install Phoenix on my computer, next day i woke up, installed windows on another partition, installed Phoenix, and in two hours everything was done, including flashing my N80.

Wasn't knocking the idea mate, on the contary I fully endorse it.

However I managed to install and flash without to many hassles and didnt need to - had I had install problems, I would have created a partition.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. My PC is a dual core machine runnings windows media centre. Is this the causing the problems with phoenix?

I have alot of software on teh machine and a complete wipe of windows and reinstall is something that I dont want to attempt.

As for installing a clean version of windows on another partition im not sure whether thats going to be possible either. The machine came preloaded with windows and I have recreated recovery discs but they do not appear to give the option of installing xp on a new partition.

Would appreciate any further help.

I have the same configuration and neither Phoenix nor NSU work on my PC.

Fortunately i also have access to a Laptop which is neither Dual Core, nor Media Center Edition and both programs work fine.

If it's the Dual-Core CPU at fault, there may be some advanced CPU setting etc., which can be swithed off in the PC BIOS (setup screen when PC is first switched on and before Windows loads).

Does anyone out there have Phoenix working OK with a Dual Core Intel CPU?
Does anyone out there have Phoenix working OK with XP Media Center Edition?
