TomTom Mobile 6 question

I have a question the support at TomTom does not seem to be able to answer:

When I buy TomTom Mobile 6 I can obviously use it on my e61. If I also have a Treo 650, can I also use it on that phone (not at the same time of course, but say on Monday on the e61 and on Tuesday on the Treo 650)?

Or is TomTom Mobile "locked" to one specific phone, or to one type of phone model?

Thanks in adavance!

TOMTOM app is not locked to the device, but the maps are.

Thanks for the answer. I am not sure I understand this correctly. Does it mean I can use the Mini SD card exclusively in my e61, and not put it into a Treo 650 (with a Mini SD Card adapter) later?

Can I switch from one e61 to another one?

The maps are locked to one device. Loading it on another device will prompt you for another unlock code.

The code goes to that particular device. Two E61 are considered different devices.

You canput the SD card into different E61 or Palm or whatever device, but Tomtom won't work unless you reregister it to the new device.

Sure it is.

But as far as TomTom goes, the map files are the same whether it is for Palm, PocketPC, Symbian ... etc.

The SD Card as sold by TomTom also usually includes the binary files (the application itself) for all sorts of devices. The Palm TomTom 5 SD Card will work on PocketPC just like that.

If you buy the stuff on DVD (as in the Western Europe Package), it will contain the application for all supported devices: Palm, PocketPC (but not the Go devices).

It's convenient, because TomTom allows you to register two different devices within 6 months. Then one every 6 months and so on. This is for people who change devices. You are only allowed to use one license on a single device, not on multiple devices (well, duh). The benefit is that if you switch from Palm to PocketPC or Symbian, you can still pretty much use the same software - just transfer the registration.

I am not sure that I understand your problem, but with TomTom you have to simultaneously press the blue shift key and the number that you want (ie for 5 you press the blue shift key and the G key together). You cannot press the blue shift key then the number key, which is not consistent with how the keyboard works with other programs on the E61.

Does anyone know what the difference of tomtom 6 and one for 'Mobile' ?

Will a 'normal' version not work on a phone?

I ask since I have a tomtom gps unit in my car but like to install it on my phone, I don't want to make another purchase of the same software if I don't need to.

No, using TomTom Navigator 6 on the E61, I just press the key and get the letter so if I want to navigate to a postcode then I can put in R, T, Y, U etc. Do you have Navigator 6? Do you have the latest firmware on the E61? Is it a UK keypad?
