TomTom available for S60 3rd?

Maybe I dropped off to sleep a few weeks back, but this is news to me: apparently TomTom Navigator 6 is now fully compatible with the Nokia E61/E61 and N80, S60 3rd Edition devices. Further compatibility comments welcomed...

Read on in the full article.

Deliveries don't seem to have got going yet (or they can't keep up with demand?) - my TomTom order status hasn't progressed in nearly a week now, and Expansys are quoting 20th October?

TomTom nav 6 also works perfectley well on the N73 as long as you have v03 firmware

just done a 300 mile trip this weekend and it never lost bluetooth connection once. Also battery life on N73 is great.

Works flawlessly on the N80 (Firmware 4.0623.0.41).

I recently tested TomTom with my BT338, on a two hour trip without any stability issues.

Looks much nicer on the N80's high res screen too

Now I'm getting jealous, where did you guys get your copies of TT6? I'm still waiting for TomTom to get back to me about an official review copy!

Used it over the weekend on my N73 - worked perfectly (well, it did once I remembered to plug the phone's charger in)

Steve - there's various places you can *get* TT6, but none of them are exactly legal :(

Ah.

Anyway, after a little nagging, TomTom are sending me a review copy over - I'll give it whirl later this week for a review on AAS.

I wonder why they don't include more 3rd Edition models on their compatibility list...... I wonder if it'll work on the E70?

Steve

It works alright but shhh! Don't tell anyone that hundreds of S60 3rd Edition users have already donwnloaded it from Bitorrent/emule or bought a copy off ebay!

This probably sounds sanctimonious, but I really wish people wouldn't keep pirating software like this. The end result will be companies going out of business and then not being able to write more software.

I know several of the folk at TomTom quite well and every time someone grabs a cracked version of their software, it deprives one of them out of a tiny piece of profit/income.... Would you like it if someone was ripping off your company's products?

TT6 seems doesn't work on nokia 3250...i got it, tryed it and then mailed the tomtom customer assistance, they said that they will insert new mobiles on the compatibility tab only when they are SURE that it works pretty good... My question is: Why a mobile that mount a Symbian 3rd edition can't install an application made for it??? mistery of life ^_^

TomTom could do themselves a big favour on the piracy side by not making such a big announcement about the launch of a new product and then not making available for several months. It's only going to whet the appetitite of pirates.

I got my copy from tomtom.com delivered yesterday, so I guess it's 'officially' available now
