I think you are going to need to visit a Nokia service center...

You might like to try a hard format first *#7780*
But as Rafe says if that doesn't fix things then you're gonna have to pop along to your friendly local service centre.

I've had this exact problem! Soft format doesn't work, so backup your data and do a hard format and it will magically go into online mode again!

After I hard reformat it didn't pickup the network right away, the phone acted a little strangely for a while before it sorted itself out. My suggestion would be to hard reformat again, then assuming it goes back into online mode leave it for an hour or two and see if it picks up the network

ok for anyone else who experiences offline phone after a firmware upgrade there is a quick simple fix. turn ur phone on without the sim card. hook it up to your pc via USB cable. open up phoenix and go to file > scan product. after it scans, a few extra options appear in the top. Look for where it says operating mode. it might be in rf input mode or something like that. Check the box beside change with reset (it to the left of it). now drop down the operating mode tab and change it to test and wait. it will reboot your phone into test mode. after your phone reboots and you see it saying nokia test, go back to the operating tab mode and change it to normal. your phone should reboot. after it reboots it will say it's offline, but the operating mode is actually normal. now remove the phone from usb, and shut it down. put in the sim card and start your phone up. It will say your "would you like to continue working offline?" select no. your phone will go to online mode and quickly pick up a network signal. hope this helps...

same thing happened to me. strange that phone was working normal after flash but this happened one day after flashing. I didn't reformat the phone. just left the phone off for two hours than it worked again normal online. strange. When the phone picks up the network after I start the phone, the operator name dissapears for one second, the screen goes like empty background than it becomes normal. anybody has this?

My E61 did this yesterday, I didn't take the sim out just changed from normal to test and back in Phoenix and now ok. Is this likely to reoccur or just a one off, best to get it sorted in warantee period if it's gonna keep happening.
I remember my 6680 doing this a while back but being stuck online rather than offline, a power down sorted it.
