New E61 Owner, Contacts Problem?
Hi there,
I today recieved my brand new E61 and in preperation for this i moved all my contacts on my previous phone to the SIM card.
After i installed my SIM into the E61, i noticed that whenever anyone calls me their name does not show; only the tel. number, or when i try to send a text message and select the Add Recipient there is nothing listed...
Now, my main questions are:
1. is there a way to use my SIM as the main address book?
2. if not, please tell me there is a way to auto move all my contacts to the phone (as i have about 250 and dont fancy making my fingers and eyes bleed for no reason)
3. I also noticed that when syncronising my phone with outlook it completely ignores SIM contacts. is that correct?
Thanks in advance,
MaaWaa

I found I had to copy them over one by one.
From the address book, press OPTIONS and scroll down to SIM CONTACTS, then choose SIM DIRECTORY.
One each one choose OPTIONS and then COPY TO CONTACTS.
I am so glad that most of my contact are in the computer. I just sucked them over to the phone memory. They take up very little space but I know that if my phone dies my contacts are still safe at home.

moving contacts to sim card
Maawaa,
What service are you using? I am on Cingular and I took my old phone (Treo650) sim chip and they have this device that will move contacts from one sim chip to a new one....
Good luck.

To copy the SIM content from one to another is only necessary a basic phone on between. I saw on Vodafone, not so long ago, yhe phone for that was a 7110... if someone knows what I´m talking about

SIM's too basic
MaaWaa,
The information that a SIM card is capable of holding is very basic. More capable phones, like the E61, have much more powerful phone books that require much more complex databases. The SIM just doesn't hold enough information.
As far as I know, there isn't any way to make the SIM the default phone-book storage location or copy all of the numbers from it to the phone automatically. You can copy each SIM contact manually or take both phones into your carrier and ask them to transfer your contacts.
Good luck!

Copying contects from SIM to E61
Hi,
There's an easier way than copying the contacts one-by-one:
Go to Contacts, then Options->SIM contacts->SIM directory, then Options->Mark/Unmark->Mark all, then Options->Copy to contacts.
That'll copy them all.
Hope that helps :-)
