E-mail not working, please help!
I just got my E61 and I really like it exept for a couple of things, like the stability of the OS for example. It sometimes resets by itself, sometime freezes, I don't know what the hell is wrong with it. I mean for a 625$+tx phone (Canada-Montreal) I was expecting something more reliable.
Anyway's I'm trying to configure my E61 to be able to receive and send email but I can't seem to make it work! I wrote all the correct inputs but each time I want to retreive my emails, the phone finds an access point, then asks me for my email user name and password, then it searches for an access point again! It keep's going in circles!!! What am I supose to do? And how do I configure it to get push-email?
Thanks!

You need to check your settings. You don't appear to have entered all the settings for your email. You need to make sure you have entered your username and password in Settings (Got Settings -> Email -> Your Account name). You can also set a deafult access point here if you wish.
Push email configuration depends on the system you use. Be it Exchange, Blackberry etc etc.
As for the crashes - is there anything particular casuing them. Most people seem to have found the software reasonable stable, although as you say there do seem to be some bugs.

Thank you Rafe for your reply.
I did enter the correct information for my email inbox. I also tried to use different access points like GPRS, WAP and WLAN as well. I do not have a blackberry account tho... Could this be the problem? The E61 is supose to be Push-Email compatible.

Is it possible that the provider is not compatible with push email?
I'm with Fido, I live in Montreal - Canada.

Ok I checked with my provider and they do not offer any push mail service but they do have GPRS, WAP, MMS all those type of access points. Theoricly I should be able to retreive my emails, but I can't seem to be able to. Can anyone help? Please!
I have a yahoo account and these are my settings:
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Mailbox type: POP3
Secyrity (ports): Off
Port: Default
APOP secure login: Off
Access point in use: Always ask
E-mail address: myemail@yahoo.com
User name: myemail
Password: mypassword (*****)
This what happens when I connect:
Searching for access point --> Select access point --> WLAN Connection (I tried GPRS, WAP, MMS Connections as well) --> Connectiong to mailbox Yahoo.com --> Mailbox user name: myemail --> Mailbox password: mypassword (*****) --> Save password to mailbox settings?: Yes --> Searching for access point --> All over again...... (Sometimes It say's Server not found!)
Anyone can figure out the problem??????? Thanks!

Email works perfectly! I found the problem. The problem was that yahoo regular account did not offer the POP3 access from other softwares... I registered with them for 20$ a year and it worked!

Here's the setting for Yahoo and Hotmail:
Yahoo (You have to have Yahoo Plus! in order for these settings to work):
Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
Hotmail:
Hotmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop3hot.com (port 110)
Hotmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): pop3hot.com

Glad to here you got it sorted.
Most ordinary mail does support push email. You need to have asystem that supports it. For example Microsoft Exchange, RIM Blackberry, Visto etc etc. Unfortunately these are not readily available to end users (Exchange perhaps being an excpetion if you go the hosted Exchange route).

hi,
thanks tried your settings on my phone e61
hotmail is working fine....... i can downlaod and send messages, but when i delete a message from the phone, i just see them there with a red cross out there, is there any way i can just delete them from my phone and server. . it did ask me when i clicked on delete a message if i wanted to delete it from the server too.... i clicked yes, but i still see them.
as far as yahoo goes, it is not working yet, i guess i will have to go for yahoo plus service to get that on my phone.

Hi ojoi, for your yahoo account you will need to subscribe to the Yahoo Plus! account in order to make it work on you E61. It's about 19,99$ a year for 2gb email storage.
I had the same problem when deleting emails from the phone and server. The solution is simple, when you mark an email to delete, it will go away next time you connect to the server to retreive your emails.
