I have movies in various formats... what application can I use to convert them to a version of mp4 that WORKS ON THIS DAMN PHONE

I've tried crap loads of ways and they all work on my pc, but put them on phone and they dont work. Only way that works is nokia media converter but thats crappy quality 3gp. PLEASE help!! 😞

You need to use one of the following codecs:
MPEG-4 VSP or MPEG-4 AVC (H.264)

Audio stream can be:
AMR-NB, AMR-WB, RealAudio 7,8, 10, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+

Using ACC and H.264 results in me being able to hear the audio but its a black screen when played.

Suprised and saddened to see that there are no freeware DivX players for Symbian phones, or at least none that I could find. All my DivX movies coded for my smartphone will be consigned to the bin and Pocket DivX Encoder is an ace freeware encoder for making them!

SmartMovie is out now for S60 3rd edition, that's probably worth getting if you're planning on watching movies on your phone.

Best tool I've found is ImTOO 3GP Video Converter. It allows conversion to 3GPv2 which allows you to have decent bitrates. Also converts from the Google Video downloadable format (PSP and iPOD) so there's tons of free vids out there!

So far I have found "SUPER" very useful for encoding video for use on my N80. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html its a free download and works very well.
The setting I use are:
Output container = MP4
Output Video Codec = H.263
Output Audio Codec = AAC

Set the video size to a max of 352X288 and bitrate between 512 and 1200, then every thing will work fine. Only problem I have is that there is no thumbnail shown on the N80 just a generic icon, but other than that it works great...

This might sound like a stupid question.. but whenever I create a video to play on my n80, the video always plays on its side. When looking at the portrait screen, the video is turned 90 degrees and therefore the top quarter and bottom quarter is black.

How can I get the phone to play a video (created with the right dimenions in mind) using the entire portrate size of the screen, up right ? I can not figure it out.

This sounded great, so I downloaded and had a go - I'm probably being really thick but after it's converted the file, where does it go? I can't seem to see where it goes to.... :con?

Any help would be appreciated. EDIT - Found them now in Programmes, eRightSoft, SUPER, Output folder. You guys are too slow < grins >

Dayzzeeeee

Stop the video and press the upper left button and choose "full screen" in the menu - or simply press "2" on the numeric keyboard! - and then your videos will play full screen in portrait mode 416 x 352. Very nice.
