Angry Why?

I dug out the old Nokia 3330 the other day to take fishing with me after a close call with my N6680. It still works! Although it does seem very primitive against my 6680! But the thing that struck me more than anything else was that when i went to send a message it offered up to 454 characters (You can say sooo much more) rather than the 160 characters offered by newer handsets. And i just got to thinking how nasty (i can think of other words as well) phone companies are. Not only did they increase the cost of a text message but decreased what you can say! I know im probably not the first to notice this but i just felt it had to be said.

Also i did try to send a message of 200 charcters but those nasty so and so's charged me for 2 messages! Is anone else as annoyed as me about this? Surely tchnology has advanced so far so that we can send more data cheaper!?!? Maybe not?

? The 160 character limit has always been there. At least in my country.

All SMS messages are limited to 160 characters (using the default 7-bit SMS alphabet and stored in available 140 bytes). If the SMS is Unicode characters, a single SMS can hold 70 characters.

All modern phones support long SMS messages where a long message is sent as multiple SMS messages (and you pay for multiple SMS, too) and then reassembled and shown as a single message on the receiving side.
