Sweet little thing, don't you think? Hmm, Nokia.com says 2Q/06 (http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,91793,00.html)

Says Q3 in the press release (http://press.nokia.com/PR/200605/1050231_5.html)

I would guess a timing of September might be a good compromise!

and yes looks like a really nice device. I think the diffentriation (smartphones for different target groups) is the way of the future. The size looks great and the idea of theming the interface according to mode is nice. Looking forward to getting my hands on one!

Do I see a change of sales tactic here.

They refer to it as a Smartphone and not a Multimedia Computer as the N and E Series have been recently. There is no mention of Series 60 on the main Nokia website it just says that the phone runs Symbian applications (Which is misleading in my opinion). Its only by checking on www.s60.com that you are sure that is Series 60 device.

With the 300 euro pricetag I suspect this is the beggining of the push of S60 into midrange phones. Is Series 40 dead?

Multimedia computers is a sales name given to S60 devices coming from Nokia Multimedia. Nokia Enterprise Solutions (Eseries) and Nokia Mobile Phones (latest 5500 for example) still refer to them as smartphones like before. See the organisation here: http://www.nokia.com/A402695

Of course S60 wants to get into midrange ie. feature-phone categories as well, and there S40 is one of the biggest competitors and by no means dead. Yet

Thanks for the clarification but I still think people will get confused by the different terms and exaclty what they are buying.

I notice they've moved the "pen" button round to the side, which is something they ought to do on all Symbians IMHO. With the pen on the front, it's fiddly pressing it down while operating other buttons on the same keypad.
