E60 and N71 also supported and near shipping

Nokia's E60 and N71 are also apparently now fully supported and near to shipping. Here's the E60 support page and the N71 support page. Thanks for the heads-up, Jukka!

Read on in the full article.

Typical its just like buses. I wait ages for a new phone that I like the look of then lots come at one.

I like the look of the N80 but it does not have a full keyboard and I suspect it will be expensive.

I like the look of the E61 but it does not have a camera (OK not a big concern for me but worth considering). But it does have a physically larger screen than the other series 60 devices 3rd edition devices however the resolution is less (3250 excepted).

The E70 sounds like it might be the most promising yet. The largest keyboard of the new devices and a camera (no videophone option, but thats a plus ). However I've heard nothing about it in real use. Anyone know of any reviews in the pipeline?

I also like the look of the Sony/Ericsson P990 but that still looks like its several months away and will probably be overpriced.

I've corrected the attribution. Reviews of both phones are in the works (essentially once / if we've got them from the PR people).

But for a very quick 'review' based on the preview I've seen at various events... N71 feels a bit big to me for a flip phone, although it is a massive improvement over the 6260 and the X700 / X800. The responsiveness of 3rd Edition shows (this is a relatively boring phone in some ways). The high resolution screen is very nice, and the camera seem quite good.

The E60 is one of the picks of the Eseries, and is generally under appreciated. As a phone it is very very good (nice keys etc), the screen rotate function may seem a bit gimmicky, but handles the whole issue of some tasks better in landscape (web browsing, reading). You're not going to get a wifi phone much smaller than this either (it is smaller than it looks).

Rafe, did you confuse E60 with E70? E70 has the rotatable display.

I did mean the E60. It has an app called rotate which will change the orientation of the screen user interface (i.e. the display appeats side ways on the phone). This gives the benefits of the landscape orientation without any need for any transformer change. I like the E70 too, it is just a bit bigger than the the E60, although if you want a full qwerty keyboard it is excellent.

Sorry Jukka for getting the blog attrib wrong! In my eagerness to post the news before heading out the door for the evening.....

And yes, an E70 is apparently arriving Chez Litchfield on Tuesday or Wednesday, so hopefully a review won't be far behind (video for the Smartphones Show and text/photos for AAS).

The E70 is the one that appeals to me most because I like the idea of the dual flexibility, although (as ever) I'm a little worried about the mechanical reliability of the swing mechanism.

Right you are Rafe. It's so long I played with E60 I didn't realise. I agree it is very nice (thinnest S60!), and feature packed.

Yep the E60 should be a popular with people who want a feature rich phone but dont want a camera and are happy with a standard phone keypad.

I do wonder if the E series will actually turn out to be the phones of choice for business or get most of its sales from the general public as any other phone. I think the E series has the capability of being very popular but suspect that branding them as business phones will hold back sales. For instance I dont remember any of the major UK high street phone suppliers listing any of the E series as coming soon. At the end of the day a mobile phone is such a personal thing that people will want to use the device of their choice not something that's dictated to them by the company they work for.

Yeah, I agree. The P-series phones have been grossly overpriced since the P800. But still, I imagine that the P990 is the one I'll end up getting. To be honest, none of the new/coming smartphones have got me really excited though...

The phones are definitely shipping soon. We have a local dealer that puts out a price list, and whenever they update the list with a new phone, the phone always ships within the month. Eventhough they've been the target of much argument and questions, they've never been wrong.

Has your local dealer put out the price list now?
Did you say any of the E series there? If yes which ones?
I am thinking E61 ...could be potentially delayed... cuz of the all push email softwares in it... but that shouldnt delay things... or maybe it should... since its the new OS.

E60 from what I remember will not push email software bundled, so maybe thats why they are quicker with e60

I've been waiting for ages for something to replace my P900 and think many of the forthcoming devices could fit the bill. As far as cost go Expansys have pre order prices for most of them. I know their pre-order prices tend to be inflated but they should be indicative of relative cost and on that bases the E series seems to be very competitively priced i.e. At time of writing.

P990i £663.95
N80 £614.95
E70 £409.95
E61 £389.95

No prices yet for E60 or N71

actually someone just posted that if you look at amazon germany website you canfind e series for like 380 EUR which is fairly cheap.

I am guessing this phone is gonna be around 450-500 USD max.
If they wanna beat RIM - they need to price it accordingly!... around what BB are for!@
