Very very slow N70

Hey guys,

i have got one N70 from 02-UK but it is extremely slow. It takes almost 10 seconds to show the menu and additional 5-10 seconds to open folders (i.e. Tools, Games, etc). Not to mention Gallery which takes almost 30 seconds to open and show properly the thumbnails.

Do you have any idea why the phone is so slow and how can i fix this??

I am thinking of a hard reset....will this correct anything?

P.S I have the latest firmware V.3.0546.2.3

Thanks in advanced.

What applications do you have open? hold the menu button till the "task manager" comes up, and close everything apart from telephone. Go into call log settings and reduced from 10 days to 1 day, this speeds things up, what size mem card do you have and how full is it? this effects gallery opening.

Just a few things to get you started, im sure others will add their advice.

Hi!!!

I have to disagree with you and I ask you to please follow the advise that Stokie gave you, I have your same firmware and my phone to open the menu just takes a half second and to open other applications just takes 2 or 3 seconds, I think that maybe if you reduce your log duration to 1 day, it could be faster, I have to tell you that I have an unbranded phone with the last firmware and 1 GB rs mmc and is the fastest I have had. Try what Stokie said.

BTW i have the original 64Mb mem card that came with the phone.

Thank you.

Hmm,

Maybe a hard reset is the way to go, and then change the log settings again, if that doesnt sort it, go to the place you brought the phone from and ask to have a look at another, so that you can judge if its your phone thats slow, or the general symbian OS is too slow for you, if its the former, ask for a different phone or a repair, if its the latter, then a smartphone isnt for you.

No i believe that the problem is the phone.

I previously had a 6680 which was way too fast than my current N70.

Probably i will take it tomorrow to the shop where i bought it from, and let's hope that they will do something for me.

Thank you.

halloooo..try the nokia code.. remove your memory card and dial *#7370# then press yes..it will reformat your phone it just like you buy new one all the settings and original programs reset..maybe one of the problem is that you install old applications which is not compatible with N70..be advice also to reformat your memory card if the problem still thesame..hope it works

I've a Kingston 512 RS-DV-MMC and it's fine for me...plus lifetime warranty...for £22.99 including P&P.

I have bought 1 Gb MMC two weeks back and so far its good. It didn't slow down my N70. The brand is Microsim & has a lifetime warranty.
