Hi,

have anyone disassembled their Nokia N70?

If so could you please post instructions/pictures!?

Thx

Here are some pictures i took last week which should help you dismantle your N70. I have labelled the clipping points, just take your time and put insulation tape on the end of your screwdriver to stop any scratching etc. When i did mine i managed to make not one single blemish on any part of the phone :icon14:

If you need any help, ill do my best..

Excellent Matt !!

Thank you!

Now I can buy a new housing/cover for my N70 and install it myself!! 😊

Hi Messus

I got a new cover from ebay for £4.99! All black casing. Really cool!

It took me about 3 mins to get the other one off, its easy!

Just make sure you prise it up from the bottom left and right corners.

Matt,

have you (or anyone else) suceeded in dismantling the
back-cover/lid of the N70 ??

I need to be able to do this to change the sliding lid on
the back cover..

Please post pictures if you have, or any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Messus!

Its really easy to get the back cover off! You mean the bit with the camera lens on it and the on/off switch??

Slide off the battery cover and then take out the battery.

If you look 'up' into the lens cover, (hold the phone pointing the on/off switch to the floor), you will see 2 'clips' one on the bottom left and one on the bottom right, on the corner of the outer casing. (Look at the red arrows in the pic above)

Just slip in a small screwdriver or a pointy thin knife and prise it off as though you are using a crowbar.

Wiggle it about a bit and you will feel a bit of resistance, but it wont break, then kind of 'unclip' the corners and slide it up.

TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 😉

Hope that made sense?? Good luck!

Thank you, but no, I mean the cover which covers the battery, with
the sliding lid which protects the camera lens.. I want to separate
these two, and try to use the phone without the sliding lid, since
it is annoying me, and or maybe switch it with another color.

Ahhhhh sorry chuck - my mistake!

I don't know how to get the sliding camera cover off the battery cover!

It is a pain in the bum I must admit, it comes open when you take it out of your pocket or bag............... ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr!

I think you can get a silver battery cover with a black camera cover (or whatever colour you prefer) from the website you mentioned.

Let me know if you DO manage to disconnect the camera cover!

I managed to dismantle the back cover and the sliding lid (lens cover), putting it back together again was NOT easy!

The feather-mechanism (look at the pictures) was very hard to put back together,
I suppose there is some special tool for putting it back together.

Think I spent 2 hours to get it back together...

But now I have an ALL black Nokia N70, and it looks and feels awesome!! 😊

The pictures are a bit unclear, due to a borrowed camera I did not manage to
fine tune...

Wow... thanks all... DAMN good thread, didn't even know i could swop the cover and thought I was destined for a life of scratched N70 :frown: and an eventual crappy eBay resell price as a result!

Anyways, excellent work! gonna get me the dark special edition one!
