Hey guys... Im trying to Install:

guitartuner1.1

I keep getting the message Installation Security Error - Unable to install. Is there any way of bypassing this? Im guessing its because its not recognised software.

If anyone knows where I can I can get Handysafe for free - please let me know!!!

Also should the UK Voda version of N70 come preinstalled with world clock - mine doesnt have it... I think thats a bit of a con!

Look forward to your speedy responses

Cheers

PS Hey messus - remember me from the Sendo X forum?!!!

I now have to say, that the Sendo X was pretty damm good despite all my moaning. If it had been stable it would have been way ahead of its time and a superior phone. What a missed opportunity for the failed British company. The only real advantage to the N70 that I can see is the clear menus, 2mp camera of course and just better interface. Application wise its not hugely different to the X.

😮

You might also want to check:
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/software/N70/

Software listed here (according to the author) is compatiable with the N70.

If you can not install software (poster above):

As stated in Steve L FAQ's:

"By default, some 6630 and other modern Series 60 smartphones come 'locked down' in terms of the applications they'll accept, installing only those that have large companies behind them, able to afford the expensive 'signing' process. But there are hundreds of other great applications, many of them free, that are 'unsigned'. Don't worry about this (see my malware article to put your mind at rest). Just go to 'Tools | Manager | Options | Settings' and turn 'Software installation' "On". (While you're in this dialog, make sure 'Online certif. check' is 'Off'. You can now install any compatible program without being blocked by spurious security warnings! "

THANKS - works fine now 😊

still looking for Handysafe or an equivalent for free.... oh and world clock which Nokia left off!

Hi, yes I remember you! 😊

I don't wanna start a big thread about the N70 vs Sendo X, and that is not
what this thread is about.

Summarized I can not agree with you though, The N70 has twice the processor
power of the X, it has 6 times more internal memory (more apps run simultaniously), the N70 has S60 V2 OS which means FAR FAR better compatibility with more software (which this thread is about), it has 3G/Edge, it has Bluetooth V2.0 standard, it has USB 2.0 support, it has a MUCH MUCH better camera (and not only the resolution, but also the colour- and white-balance), the N70 switch songs (mp3) instantly and does not use 2-4 seconds as the X does, the N70 has a radio and the overall sound quality of the N70 is much better than the X, and lastly; the Sendo X looks good, but the silver look (and compact design and feeling) of the N70 is above all other smartphone I have ever tested!!!

I'll give the X credit for ont thing though, and that is the active desktop, which I think was really good, and better than the one on the N70.

Most important for me though is the compatibilty with TomTom Mobile 5 and QuickOffice with editing capabilities.

If you want to start a thread about N70 vs Sendo X, which I think makes no sense (two different worlds), I suggest you start a dedicated thread for it..

I started this thread for people to know which software that runs on the N70, and which software that "currently" does not.

Also many of the N-g**e games work on the N70, I got absolutely none to work on the Sendo X.

Sendo had a great opportunity, they wasted it!

Have updated the list today..

Have tried 4 Handy Programs from Epocware:

http://nokia-n70-software.epocware.com/index.html

Do not work:
Handy Safe v 2.2 => Fieldnames disappears when scrolling down, only values shows
Handy Dates v 1.0 => The same as above (You can use it, but it is tiresome to enter new dates)
Handy Shopper v 1.7 => Same as above when adding new items (or editing) (You can use it, but it is tiresome to enter new items (or edit))

Do work:
Handy File v 1.5

Epocware replied with that there was an error on their website, and that not every program is compatible with n70 all though it is listed on the n70-page.

You mean Full Screen Caller?

What version works on the N70? Version 3.0.0 doesnt seem to work. Does the latest 3.0.3 work?

Thank you for your input John, but could you please specify specific version number on the software!? I have actually experienced that going up one version can reduce compatibility, so simply stating "newer version" may no be adequate to tell a user 100% wether the software will work in the phone. E.g. 3D Arts's Diamonds v.1.50 worked fine on the N70, but when I upgraded to v.1.60 it would not run at all!

Thank you again! 😊

Blimey, some of you guys have got stacks of software.....
I've been looking around, but I don't see all the software names you mention.

Cheeky request coming up!
Any chance that when the next person lists what they have, they could be real stars and list the version and also where they got it...???

This is my first Nokia and I'm loving it (although it took me a few hours to get my head round it). Reckon I'll be hanging on to this one for a while!!!

it has Bluetooth V2.0 standard

The nokia n70 does not have bluetooth v.2.0 For some reason this was pulled.

Damn, I was planning on using more than one connection. Ordered my n70 this morning, haven't even got it yet and I'm already bummed.:frown:

thread, the N70 does indeed have bluetooth 2.0. this was confirmed by nokia norway. furthermore, the official bluetooth qualification program states the N70 as with BT2.0 and EDR, so no bummer at all 😉
cheers
LosOutlandos

You da' man, hope you're right.😃 And Nokias' site still states BT 2.0 for n70. Seems like they would have caught this by now if it wasn't BT 2.0.
Has anyone tested multiple BT connections with n70 successfully?

I tried sending a file via bluetooth fro my PC to N70 and at the same time one from my wife's 6230, sending fails on the 6230

I then connected my bluetooth headset to my N70 and tried to synchronise, via pc suite to my PC, Failed

again tried to send picture from wifes 6230 to N70 while connected to headset, this also failed

So it would appear that you can NOT have multiple connections

nokia sensor doesnt seem to work
it installs and lets you set up a profile
but when you try to scan it bums out

I also tried the above and had the same results on N70.

But, I was able to make multiple connections when they were within the same BT profile.😮 😮 😮

So, it would appear the "multiple connections" of BT 2.0 would be of like BT profiles where multiple connections across different BT profiles would not be possible.:icon13:

can anyone tell me how good tom tom 5 works on the nokia n 70, do all the features work, any niggles??? would be great to hear from anyone that could assist i looking at buying this week.

Just found out that Epocware are releasing a version of Handy Day Professional for the Nokia N90 in the first half of next year!

Now as an Ex Windows person, I'm hoping this will be compatible with the N70 too as I do like a decent "desktop" style screen... showing your next few days appointments at a glance, quick launch for apps, weather, battery info... oh the list looks endless! Fingers crossed!

Steve

PS TomTom works fine!

Hi, let's keep the Bluetooth discussion in a separate thread, and
the compatible software discussion in this thread.

I discovered something intereseting with Bluetooth on N70 😉 - And have
startetd a dedicated thread for it:

I have been using TomTom Mobile on my 6600, and TomTom Navigator
on my Qtek S100 Pocket PC, and I can tell you it works REALLY well
on the Nokia N70!!

Smooth and fine, and it is noticebly faster than the N6600 in rendering
and zooming, and planning and recalculating routes etc...
Comparable to the Qtek S100..

Also, a lot of the extra addon voices of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Darth Vader
etc. which originally was made for the TomTom Go300++ did not work on
my 6600, but does indeed work on my N70!!!

So all I can say is TomTom Mobile is a really great product, and works really
really well on the Nokia N70.!!

PS! If you need recommendations on GPS, I would recommend the
Holux GPSlim 236! (Just make sure you get the latest fw.3.1.1
and serial nr. 526-xxxxxx-xxxx or later) It's the best GPS out there!!
