Importing messages from 6260 to N90?!
Hi, I have a problem. I have about 800 SMS/MMS messages on my 6260, and I'd like to get them to N90. I have tried using PC Suite 6.6, but it says the phones are incompatible. Is there any other program I can use, or any other way to do this?!

Does the N90 not come with the bluetooth transfer wizard like the 6630/6680 did?
Works a treat and copies all your phone data from one phone to another, you can probably download it from the nokia support site.

Well, that didn't work either... I could transfer almost everything but messages. Any other ideas?

im not familar with the 6260, is it a symbian phone? if so have you tried installing fileexplorer on the 6260 and opening the inbox folder, use the mark all messages option then send them via blue tooth to the N90?? might take a while but it might work if you run out of ideas

Didn't work, because the inbox has only the files from MMS messages, and the System/Mail cannot be copied.... GRR! Any other idea....

Where do you store your messages - phone or MMC memory?
How about setting the phone so it stores them on the MMC, then switch MMCs over to the new phone and read them back over??

I think that if you change the location where messages are saved only new messages will go there, the old ones will not be transferred. But it's worth to give it a try anyway... I might be wrong.

Another (expensive) option is to use Nokia Lifeblog. I say expensive because the free trial works only up to 200 items and you mention you have many more...
UA
CORRECTION: Nokia Lifeblog is not expensive for you as a free licence is available for N90 owners, but Lifeblog probably is not compatible with your old phone.

Try to rename the "mail" folder, to "mail_"
Then all u have to do is copy that folder to the MMC.

OK, at first I just tried copying the mail folder, but the Index.dat couldn't be copied. So I copied the folders and all the files but Index.dat. For Index.dat I used a workaround. I started the "backup phone to MMC" and in the meantime I copied the Index.dat with FExplore to my MMC and stopped the backup. I repeated the same process on N90, and the messages were there.
