I am just wondering if people who are using it are happy with the experience. Personally I used it for a few days but I went back to Opera 6.20 totally frustrated.
I complained on the Opera forum and indeed there were other people who weren't happy either.
The reaction from the Opera team has been very disappointing. They have not admitted that this release is flawed and they have refused to commit to any dates to provide corrections. As a result of my criticism I was banned by the Opera forum.
This experience has changed my perception of Opera as a whole company and I will not buy anything from Opera again in the future.
Anyway to stick to the point, I found several problems that made this browser unusable:
1) certain links cannot be selected when navigating pages; ironically this happens also when using forums in the Opera website!
2) most menus don't work correctly; this problem occurs on various sites that use javascript menus, one example:
www.hattrick.org.
3) Opera has redesigned how the browser deals with forms. This choice has created a number of problems around text input fields:
-- text cannot be selected in any way as the pencil key doesn't work within Opera now. Imagine using web based email, you reply to a message of 30 lines and you need to delete most of the quote: impossible!
-- keeping the "c" key pressed doesn't delete multiple characters; (sorry those 30 lines of quote in your reply must really stay!)
-- T9 input is not working correctly in situations when you delete a character and want to change the word you are writing
4) Opera has introduced 4-way navigation in the browser; this means that links are selected automatically while moving around the page; this choice has slowed scrolling so much that I would call it crawling.
Based on these and other findings I dared call the browser "unusable" and I probably touched some sensitive areas of the Opera personnel.
Ok, here is my point of view. What is yours? Are you happy with the new Opera release? Are you using it at all?
