I've done this a couple of times. You just have to turn your phone off, which ends the application. Then turn your phone back on and uninstall it.

If it is an app that initialises when the phone starts up (which yours probably is) then you had better hope that you installed it to the mini sd so you can take that out before you turn your phone on, otherwise it will try to start up when you turn the phone on.

I just had a problem where I installed an infrared remote control app that was meant for a different phone. Kept freezing my phone when I turned it on. Luckily I install everything to my sd card so I was able to remove that and start the phone up, then put the sd card back in and unistall the app.
