memory in use -phone or card for messages?

the first time I swapped over from phone to card memory for messages the phone asked if I wanted to copy all messages. I selected no. It asked again next time. I selected yes.

Now even though there are new messages in phone memory if I select use card memory it doesnt ask if I want to copy messages across.

Anyone know why?

take out ur sim card , battery and then wait for few minutes ,
then put all back in again and start the whole process again , see whether it will ask u or not ,
it's not adviseable to change the setting to memory card unless u have lots of messages that u wanna keep .

I cant see why using the memory card is anything but a good thing, please explain why you would suggest not using it.

When you first select memory card for messages it looks for the mail folder in the card.
If this is not present it asks if you wish to tranfer data from phone into the new mail folder it is creating.
If a mail folder is present then it will not ask you to create one.Hence you are not asked to transfer messages.

A trick to transfering messages is to use FExplorer.
Look in SYSTEM folder for either card or phone and you will see a folder marked mail.
If you wish you can reset the card so can send messages across. To do this delete the cards mail folder.
now when you select the card it will ask you if you wish to send messages as it's creating a new folder
BEWARE this method deletes messages stored on card.

Another method which is more complex is to try and identify the messages in the folder by their code.
something like
a0000001
a0000002
a0000003
etc
Then simply copy the message you want and paste into desired mail folder

The last way is mainly trial and error until ya find the sequence ya phone uses to sort out ya mail.

As for which to use in terms of memory card or phone.
I'd say card.
Ya phone is a mere 10mb. The more of this you use the slower ya phone gets.

Not sure if you lot remember the 7650. Great phone for it's time but only had non expandable 4mb. Once ya used it all the phone would crash and ya'd need to get it flashed to clear it.

Ya best bet is to get a large memory card and try and run as much as ya can from that.

Hope this helps

when you say it slows it down do you mean the phone all together or just that it takes longer to access the memory (particulalry with 512MB cards for instance)?

as someone said above its good to have as much phone memory free as poss?

Also Ive already lost alot of data on my 3650 after the phone had a serious memory fault. At least on the card it is safe. (er)
