Vodafone MMS now active!

Vodafone have started their MMS service. It's what they call Vodafone Live.
If, like me, you already have a "Vodafone MMS" access point on your 7650 and you find MMS messages still won't go here's a tip I picked up from a friendly Vodafone store guy:
Go to Tools/Settings/Connections/Access points/Vodafone MMS
Scroll down to "Session Mode" and change it to "Permanent"
I also changed "Prompt Password" to "No" which stopped the phone pointlessly asking for a password it didnt need.

You can send MMS messages to email addresses or other Vodafone MMS capable phones but I'm told cross-network still isn't working :(

As a bonus Vodafone is running a free MMS promotion until February 2003

To spell it out:
MMS can be sent to an email address
Vodafone MMS is free until february

You do the math

Edit: I forgot to mention you have to ring your service provider and get MMS added to your account first

It's about time too!!

Good about it being free though, I'll only use it for email as I don't know anyone with an MMS enabled phone. (Except my Dad and that kind of defeats the object)

You know who I'm going to buy a 7650 for her birthday don't you

first, yes, I think you need to activate GPRS, otherwise you can't send MMS

second, and most important where do you download "setup file" from vodafone? I'd really like to have "vodafone live" functions on my 7650, and since it's a cross-european service, I think it will work even if I'm on vodafone IT ... or, please, just upload it to this forum!

Opps.

I think Vodafone spoke too soon.
Currently their MMS service is down - it went live on Friday then instantly died.

ok.. the site says its 39p per message or something like that
but if i sign up to a gprs package it would work out more expensive than that?
or does a mms message get charged in a diffrent way?

and faquick i sent you a PM about the config file

I'm pretty sure MMS get charged in a different way from GPRS but yes, the earlier poster was right in that you need to have some sort of GPRS package as well.
In february Vodafone will probably switch back to charging 40p per message or something and when that time comes I'll start sending the pics via email as it'll work out to about 8p a picture

The setup file can be sent to your phone from the Nokia site:
