color palette for graphics?

I'm designing icon graphics for a Simbian orientated software application and was wondering if there is any specific color palette I need to follow when constructing my graphics?

And any other graphic related perameters such as what can the files be saved out as?

Any URL links for tutorials or dicussion relating to this topic would be appreciated.

Note: I'm a graphic designer, use Photoshop, Illustrator, and GoLive for designing print and web sites, but have no background in designing for mobile phones. Thus do not know the limitations in designing for mobile phone apps.

If it is a Nokia Symbian OS based phone, then look at the UI design/style guides and other related documentation on http://forum.nokia.com/

For Series 60 a good start would also be to download the Series 60 Theme Studio application and see the Series 60 Theme Studio Artist's Guide provided in the installation kit.

For Sony Ericsson, look at http://developer.sonyericsson.com/

For Motorola, try http://www.motocoder.com
