7710 vs SE 910i? which to buy?

Hi,

as a current not-too-happy owner of P800, I'm thinking of upgrading either to SE 910i or Nokia 7710.
Reasons I'd like 7710 - higher res screen, EGPRS
Reasons for 910i - smaller a bit, keypad / keyboard (can use it as regular phone).

Questions to you 7710 owners out there:

Is it easy to dial with one hand (if possible?). I. E. use 7710 as regular phone.
Anyone knows if EGPRS in US is any faster (on Tmobile's network) than GPRS?
Is there a way to use 7710's voice button for voice memos?

thanks!

No its not easy to dial on 7710 with one hand. you have to dial it with 2 hands. Yes its possible to dial with hand and stick is not required for dialing purpose. EDGE is fast superior then GPRS, check with t-mobiles if they support EDGE !

Yes, 7710 has voice memo button and it works like charm. Whenever you want to record something just press this button and to end recording press it again.

regarding SE P910i and 7710, you should ask yourself 1 question. Do you really need dial pad or you can live without it ? 7710 camera is also much much better then p910. 7710 is also bigger and bulkier then p910 but again it gives you bigger screen then p910.

overall 7710 is wonderful phone and you will not regret buying this phone provided you except its input, weight and size factors.

Thanks guys for info.

I've been reading that 7710's bluetooth kinda sucks too - that'd be my major drawback of P800, since I use bluetooth in-car handsfree A LOT.

I have to check with t-mobile on egprs.

How is 7710's browser? can you go to secure sites, how is it on remembering passwords - one of the uses I'd have for browser is Outlook Mobile Access or Outlook web Access (depending if OWA is slow or not).

also, how is email client, can you do "leave on server" mode? none of P800's clients (built-in or 3rd party) were able to do that, at least I wasn't able to find it - every time I delete email on phone, it wants to delete in my mailbox. and I don't want to keep messages on the phone, I found out it slows down the phone a lot then.

thanks!

also

also watching movies and using the internet, if
this is something you like, the 7710 is the phone
for you, as it's widescreen makes this a much better
experience.

smartmovie

you can use smartmovie

Smart movies v 2.71 or later - Converts other file formats into 7710 widescreen format.

3gp – Nokia’s own movie file format – only viewable by Nokia suite. You can also use 3rd party software to convert 3gp to other formats.

Real video 8 (.rm files), Mpeg4

Cool

Hi all

I too am in a dillema wether to go for a Nokia 7710 / SE 910i
or just go all out and get a 02 XdaIIi pocket pc.

My main interest is watching movie clips on a high quality portable
device. The screen has to be quite big and the phone should be
able to to have a signficant ammount of storage for at least 1 to 2Gb.

I was originally inspired to get a device as such after experiencing the
Sony Playstation PSP. But I'm looking for something sleeker and
more portable.

What do you guys advise?

movie clips

do you want to watch just movie clips or do you
want to watch entire movies. cause the 7710
would make watching a full movie more enjoyable
as you have a widscreen device.
