Smile from my research

If you just want a phone that plays MP3s I would go with the Motorola. For my choice I went with the Sendo because I wanted the extra functionality of being able to load programs and so forth. and didnt want to have another Windows device

think there was a posting around somewhere where I read the best way to describe main focus of the Sendo X is for the business user (and yes fun is thrown in there too). With the Sendo you are able to access the wide variety of series 60 apps out there. the E398 is primarily a fun phone. Its focus is for the MP3 player and being able to play J2ME games. best I know the majority of J2ME apps are games rather then business apps

I cant give a valid response to that as I havent heard how the E398 play mp3s. I know the Sendo is pretty damn good, the external speaker is quite loud though not stereo. you only get true stereo when you plug the head phones in. supposedly the E398 does have true external stereo output, you would have to listen to both to decide for yourself. Im happy with the way my sendo plays mp3s walked around the mall a few times with the head phones and mp3s playing no issue with sound quality.

A USer of this forum Mendocino has used motorola e398 and sendo x .(atleast that what it suggests according to the post)HE can be a better guide for this question.According to me sendo x has stereo speakers but as it doesnt supports mp3's and wav files are not stereo the output is not stereo and it will be same for motorola too.

The impression I get is that the X only has one internal speaker. If you play stereo audio the software or hardware converts it to mono. The headphone socket IS stereo, so plug in the headphones and you get true stereo audio.

As for playing mp3s I wouldn't bother with them. You should record/rip to Ogg Vorbis format and use OggPlay!

The speaker is mono, the headset stereo. Did you ever hear the motorola speaker? It is stereo and has amazing quality

I would prefer the X though

Well i have a sendo x and believe u me its a top notch fone. i was considering getting that motorola but read reviews about it being shit on txting! something about there being a lag so like when u press a letter it takes a little longer to come up! obviously it wasnt much but it was noticeable!

also i got my sendo x from ebay although it was vodaphone selling it through ebay on auction so i got it brand new for 87 pounds with an additional £7 P&P.

Which i think was great! it came two days later! was well happy!

i recommend taking a look on ebay

The main difference between Sendo X and the Mot E398 is the Symbian OS.

messus is an unknown quantity at this point
The Motorola DOES have stereo speakers built in (not talking about the headset),
and the Sendo X does NOT!

The Motorola can NOT take video clips with the embedded camera, the
Sendo X CAN!

Switching songs (mp3) with the Sendo X takes AGES and is VERY ANNOYING!!!
Don't know with the Motorola, but can't be worse than the Sendo X.

Sound quality is good on the Sendo X, maybe lacking some bass. It is supposed
to be very good on the Motorola 398.

The Sendo X is using Symbian operating system (OS6.1), The Motorola is using
Linux. This means there is more software available for the Sendo X than the
Motorola.

The menu's on the Motorla are not said to be very intuitive, they are pretty good
on the Sendo X.
